Overview
The Director, Retail Visual Merchandising – Footwear NA leads the development and execution of visual merchandising strategies that elevate the in-store footwear experience across multiple store formats and concepts. This role translates brand vision and commercial priorities into scalable merchandising plans that drive storytelling, customer engagement, and sales performance. Partnering cross-functionally across Marketing, Merchandising, Retail, and Creative teams, this leader ensures visual merchandising execution is impactful, operationally efficient, and aligned to business objectives.
Responsibilities
Visual Merchandising Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development and execution of visual merchandising strategies across multiple store formats and concepts
- Translate brand vision, seasonal priorities, and product launches into clear, scalable merchandising directives
- Oversee development and communication of visual merchandising plans aligned to marketing cadence, product flow, and fixture standards
- Partner cross-functionally to support store openings, remodels, capital projects, and key brand initiatives
- Influence fixture, signage, and in-store presentation strategies that enhance storytelling and drive sell-through
Merchandising & Storytelling
- Lead development of vendor-supported campaigns and custom merchandising experiences that elevate the in-store environment
- Partner with stakeholders to create impactful merchandising solutions that balance creativity, operational execution, and commercial goals
- Ensure merchandising directives are clear, concise, and executable across store teams and field organizations
Innovation & Standards
- Develop and scale merchandising principles that support best-in-class visual merchandising experiences
- Identify opportunities to improve merchandising standards, tools, workflows, and execution practices
- Leverage data, field feedback, and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Translate merchandising insights into actionable recommendations that improve presentation and productivity
Operations & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Oversee in-store print, digital, fixture, and signage requirements for campaigns and initiatives
- Drive cross-functional alignment and process improvements that support efficient executionEnsure timely communication and delivery of merchandising direction across the organization
- Manage multiple high-profile projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Foster strong engagement and collaboration across corporate, commercial, and field teams
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7+ years of experience in retail visual merchandising or related field
- Deep understanding of visual merchandising, retail operations, and customer experience strategy
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat), Keynote, and SketchUp
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong project management and organizational capabilities
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred
- Experience with print production, photography, or experiential retail environments
- Familiarity with Mac operating systems
- Experience supporting multi-format retail or large-scale store fleets
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 lbs as needed
