Job Description

Capstone is seeking a seasoned Vice President, Institutional Sales, Commodities who will report to the Head of Institutional Sales and engage with leading institutional investors in the commodities markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to expand Capstone's client base among top‑tier institutional investors active in commodities – including energy (oil & gas, power, LNG, renewables), metals & mining, agriculture, and environmental markets (carbon, RECs).
  • Cultivate, manage, and grow long‑term client relationships with portfolio managers, commodity traders, and senior investment professionals at hedge funds, CTAs, macro funds, trading houses, and asset managers with commodity exposure.
  • Represent Capstone's policy research and market insights to commodities‑focused clients, articulating how regulatory, geopolitical, and legislative developments translate into actionable commodity market implications across energy, metals, and agricultural sectors.
  • Partner closely with Capstone's energy, environmental, and sector research teams to align client interests particularly around FERC, EPA, trade policy, sanctions, and supply‑chain regulation with the firm's research capabilities and coverage.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to commodities clients by anticipating their informational needs around policy‑driven supply/demand shifts, price catalysts, and geopolitical risk.
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management, accurate forecasting, and CRM hygiene across a commodities‑focused book of business.
  • Support leadership efforts, provide strategic guidance, and serve as a point of escalation for key client and team matters.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of institutional sales, account management or business development experience focused on commodities markets (energy, metals, agriculture, environmental).
  • Existing network of relationships with energy corporations, hedge funds, CTAs, macro funds, and trading firms.
  • Strong knowledge of how policy and geopolitics drive commodity pricing.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets in a consultative sales environment.
  • Series7 and 63 licenses preferred; bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (MBA, CFA, MSc in Energy/Finance, etc.) a plus.
  • High academic achievement.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
