The Director of Multi‑Specialty and Surgical Clinics provides strategic and operational leadership for ambulatory programs across multiple clinic settings under the direction of the Ambulatory Chief Nursing Officer. This role is responsible for the clinical, administrative, operational, and financial activities of the clinics, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and performance expectations. The Director collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure efficient operations, high‑quality and safe patient care, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and an excellent patient experience. The position also leads efforts in program development, service line growth, and continuous performance improvement across Audiology, Augusta Specialty, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, and Zion Crossroads clinics.
The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse (RN) with a master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field, and brings progressive leadership experience in multi‑specialty and/or surgical clinic environments. This individual demonstrates strong expertise in interdisciplinary collaboration, team development, and change management, with a proven ability to oversee complex clinic operations and achieve measurable results. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills are essential, along with a commitment to fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and patient‑centered care.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, directs and manages, through jointly supervised staff, the outpatient operations for designated programs.
- Coordinates the recruitment and orientation of key personnel; develops and motivates employees to optimize talents and meet the overall needs and goals of the organization.
- Ensures effective communication and collaboration with the department administrator, physician leadership and nursing to ensure goals, operations, and strategic direction are aligned.
- Directs and/or coordinates outpatient revenue cycle initiatives including time‑of‑service cash collection, financial counseling, referral/authorization management, charge master maintenance, and regulatory audits.
- Directs and/or coordinates the maintenance, training, design and/or implementation of the outpatient IT business and clinical applications.
- Develops operating and capital budgets for ambulatory programs and makes recommendations to management.
- Organizes and oversees the activities of assigned areas to improve patient care and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, State Health Department rules and regulations, and other legislative directives.
- Serves on a number of ad‑hoc and standing committees.
- Carrying out service excellence and patient safety programs in collaboration with physician leadership; promotes a culture of service excellence, including patient and employee satisfaction.
- Carries out Medical Center policies and procedures designed to maintain a safe working environment in the context of regulatory standards, facility constraints and cost; participates in OSHA and Joint Commission reviews.
- Ensures compliance of regulatory and quality assurance programs with the Medical Center goals.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Registered Nurse license is required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program required within 4 years of hiring.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in progressively responsible roles. Experience with Epic implementation and clinical scheduling highly desirable.
- Other Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to balance many demands simultaneously.
- Licensure: None (RN license already required).
Preferred Requirements
- Education: MSN, MBA, or MHA preferred.
- Licensure: Registered Nurse.
Physical Demands
This is a primarily sedentary position involving extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel may be required for meetings and program oversight.
The starting base rate for this role is $95,019.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
