Job Summary

As the Associate Director of Industry and Talent Engagement, you will lead CU Boulder's industry partnership strategy by connecting student talent with current and emerging workforce needs. You will provide strategic direction and oversight for a team advancing employer outreach, recruitment partnerships, and workplace learning opportunities aligned with campus and Career Services priorities. Using data, industry insights, and assessment outcomes, you will guide engagement strategies, track annual results, and report progress to executive leadership. As a primary liaison, you will cultivate relationships with local, national, and alumni employers to expand equitable access to employment opportunities. You will also serve as a collaborative member of the Career Services leadership team, and collaborate with Division executive leaders to align processes and protocols related to recruitment and hiring practices at CU.

Key Responsibilities

Industry and Employer Strategy

  • Establish an employer advisory board, collaborate with the Program Manager, and glean insight from employers to inform campus hiring trends and best practices.
  • Develop employer partner programs, consult on marketing materials, and provide high-level leadership to drive outreach and onboarding of partner employers.
  • Refine, implement, and assess relationship management, compliance, programming, and procedures that align with Career Services strategic goals.
  • Strategically develop connections with employers, parents, and alumni interested in supporting CU Boulder student career readiness.
  • Collaborate and liaise with campus and non‑campus stakeholders to provide excellent service to students and employers; support onboarding and training efforts.
  • Facilitate connections between Career Services, industry partners, employers, and students; report hiring and pipeline outcomes.
  • Develop SOPs, parameters, and maintain standards for student engagement with employers.
  • Recommend and set employer relations outreach strategy based on data analysis.
  • Report outcomes yearly to team members and supervisors to grow partnerships in key growth areas and emerging industries.
  • Utilize assessment feedback and innovative approaches to set the vision for industry and talent engagement; engage local community and national networks to reach desired outcomes for student employment upon graduation.
  • Identify and measure progress, set goals, and advocate for resources to develop talent and demonstrate client management strategies.

Leadership and Project Management

  • Prepare budgets and monitor expenses for Employer Relations.
  • Update and communicate foundational expectations, best practices, and policies for staff to deliver quality service.
  • Participate and collaborate through the Executive Leadership team in Career Services.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employer concerns and emerging trends.
  • Implement initiatives and projects that align with department, division, and campus vision.
  • Demonstrate project and risk‑management skills, relationship building, compliance, and professional representation of Division and Department expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Program Manager of Technology regarding related platforms.

Supervision

  • Supervise professional staff; set goals and priorities, support workflows and team development.
  • Assign and delegate tasks and special projects to direct reports and provide mentorship, coaching, and training.
  • Build processes for continuous improvement and optimize organizational structure.
  • Provide onboarding, coaching, training, and overall team development; conduct performance evaluations each cycle.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Attend weekly Career Services all‑staff and team meetings.
  • Support campus career fairs, new student orientation, and on‑campus student employment events.
  • Attend campus‑level and liaison meetings as required.
  • Support staff during peak times for Division of Student Life.
  • Adapt to changing work demands and innovative initiatives beyond formal job description.

What You Should Know

  • This position offers a hybrid work arrangement: 3 days in person, 2 days remote; Monday‑Friday schedule with occasional nights and weekends for special events.

What We Offer

  • Annual salary range: $86,100–$91,000.

What We Require

  • Master’s degree.
  • 3 years of experience, including at least 1 year supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated experience working with employers, industry partners, corporate partners, faculty, learners, and/or donors.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
