Job Description

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Job Overview

This role leads commercial data and analytics strategy for the Sports, Spine, and CMF franchises, translating complex data into clear insights that shape growth, pricing, customer engagement, and portfolio decisions. The Director partners closely with Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and IT leaders to ensure analytics are embedded in day‑to‑day decision‑making and long‑term strategy. This is a high‑impact leadership role with visibility across the organization and direct influence on commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the commercial analytics strategy for Sports, Spine, and CMF, aligned with business objectives and growth priorities.
  • Translate large, complex datasets into actionable insights to support pricing, demand planning, customer segmentation, and go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Partner with Commercial, Marketing, Sales, and Finance leaders to embed data‑driven decision making into commercial execution.
  • Oversee development and governance of dashboards, reporting, and advanced analytics models to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analytics professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption of analytics tools, data platforms, and best practices in collaboration with IT and enterprise data teams.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards while enabling timely access to insights.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to senior leadership, influencing strategic and operational decisions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Business, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA, MS in Analytics/Data Science, or equivalent).

Required Experience and Skills

  • 10-12 years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or commercial analytics, including leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience translating data into commercial insights that drive revenue growth and market performance.
  • Strong understanding of analytics related to pricing, customer segmentation, forecasting, and sales performance.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing analytics teams.
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions through clear, data‑backed storytelling.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting MedTech, healthcare, or highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and modern data platforms.
  • Experience working in matrixed, global organizations.
  • Knowledge of Sports Medicine, Spine, or CMF markets.

Other

  • Language: English required.
  • Travel: Up to 20% domestic travel.
  • Certifications: Analytics or data science certifications preferred, not required.

Pay Transparency

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $150,000.00 - $258,750.00.

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long‑term incentive program.
