Director, Marketing AI Innovation – Horsham, PA

Job Function: Digital Marketing; Job Sub Function: Multi-Family Digital Marketing; Job Category: People Leader.

Purpose: As Director, Marketing AI Innovation, you will lead the design, development, and scaled deployment of AI‑powered marketing capabilities across the US organization. You will transform how teams generate insights, develop creative, and move content through compliant approval—using AI to drive speed, quality, and measurable business impact.

You will operate at the intersection of marketing strategy, AI technology, data, and creativity, turning AI into a durable, enterprise marketing capability in a highly regulated environment. You will orchestrate end‑to‑end digital capability evolution—identifying opportunities, architecting solutions, and ensuring seamless integration with key business processes. Success hinges on strong cross‑functional relationships, influencing stakeholders at every level, and balancing commercial priorities to accelerate marketing performance and position J&J as a leader in data‑driven commercialization.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and own the US Generative AI roadmap for end‑to‑end Marketing Enablement.
  • Ensure strategic accountability for adoption of GenAI solutions across marketing and cross‑functional teams.
  • Establish and oversee feedback mechanisms to continuously improve GenAI tools.
  • Translate business needs into prioritized AI use cases.
  • Establish clear success metrics for adoption, efficiency gains, and ROI.

Product Design

  • Partner with subject matter experts, data science, engineering, IT, and external vendors to deliver GenAI solutions.
  • Oversee vendor and partner relationships, ensuring alignment on timelines, deliverables, and integration milestones.
  • Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for GenAI marketing enablement initiatives.
  • Ensure solutions are user‑centric, compliant with industry regulations, and designed for adoption at scale.
  • Ensure all GenAI solutions comply with Responsible AI standards and data privacy regulations, in alignment with J&J policies.
  • Oversee backlog management, sprint prioritization, and product performance monitoring.

Operational Readiness & Stakeholder Management

  • Ensure operational readiness for GenAI solutions, including launch planning, training, documentation, and post‑launch monitoring.
  • Drive marketing team adoption through structured enablement programs and change management strategies.
  • Act as the bridge between commercial leaders, medical/regulatory/legal, and technology teams.
  • Lead co‑innovation workshops, capability showcases, and training sessions to drive awareness and adoption.

Qualifications / Requirements

Education:

  • BA/BS required; advanced degree in business, marketing, technology, or related field preferred.

Experience & Skills

Required:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercial marketing or commercialization roles within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.

Preferred:

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements for scalable solutions.
  • Proven experience leading large‑scale marketing capability transformations with a strong track record of driving digital and AI‑enabled initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Deep understanding of marketing technology platforms, unified marketing portals, content management systems, and self‑service solutions.
  • Experience partnering with IT, Legal, and Regulatory teams to implement and evolve technology‑enabled review and approval workflows.
  • Analytical mindset and proficiency in measuring technology adoption and marketing performance through data and KPI.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams and being a member of a cross‑functional team.
  • Strong relationship management and agency leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated influence in large and matrixed organizations.
  • Experience developing, communicating, advocating, and executing strategy.
  • Success in prioritizing and managing a complicated portfolio of projects.
  • Proven ability to hold self and team members accountable to deliver goals and objectives.
