Position Overview
WTAJ is searching for our next SPORTS DIRECTOR to lead our award‑winning sports team in Altoona, PA. You will provide top‑notch coverage of the Pittsburgh Steelers as part of our “Black and Gold Nation” program, which airs in several TV markets across the region. You will also cover local high‑school sports (especially football), the Penn State Nittany Lions, and the Altoona Curve, a minor‑league team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In addition, you will host our daily sports talk show, “Xtra Points,” on our streaming channel.
Responsibilities
Oversee the sports department and lead daily production of sports programming. Provide comprehensive coverage of professional, collegiate, and local sports events on air, online, and on the streaming platform WTAJ+. Produce engaging visual content and host the “Xtra Points” talk show.
Qualifications
Ability to think beyond highlights and have an eye for great visual content. Thrive on sports storytelling and be driven to create compelling, competitive coverage on air, online, and on streaming channels.
