Associate Director, Paid Search
The Associate Director leads the paid search function, developing strategies, planning, and ensuring implementation of campaigns to exceed client goals. The role oversees day‑to‑day operations, manages junior account staff, and serves as the primary client liaison.
Responsibilities
- Strategic planning: develop long‑term execution plans aligned with client objectives, implement them, and track KPIs.
- Data analysis: extract insights from data, relate them to client goals, and recommend actions.
- Team leadership: manage a team of search professionals, assign tasks, track progress, and provide training and mentorship.
- Client communication: present plans and maintain strong, open relationships.
- Financial management: forecast, budget, and pace campaigns, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Business acumen: identify growth opportunities for client programs.
- Asset creation: support team in creating search assets with a test‑learn‑scale mindset.
- Quality assurance: review all paid search account management deliverables.
- Cross‑team collaboration: work with broader investment and strategic leadership.
- Thought leadership: drive best practices and produce platform POVs.
Qualifications
- Relevant post‑secondary education, training, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of paid search experience and 4+ years managing junior team members.
- Deep understanding of paid search optimization, social, video, retargeting, and other online advertising.
- Strong grasp of search engine algorithms and best practices.
- Hands‑on expertise with Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, SA360, SKAI, Marin, Adobe Analytics, and Google Analytics.
- Experience troubleshooting site tags and using AI buying agents such as Google, Bing Performance Max.
- Advanced use of scripts.
- Strong analytical skills and data‑driven decision making.
- Proactive self‑starter comfortable in a fast‑paced agency setting.
- Team player committed to training, collaboration, and communication.
- Excellent management, mentoring, coaching, and talent‑development skills.
- Strong program management and organizational abilities with capacity to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience leading and mentoring teams with a proven talent‑development record.

Compensation Range: $70,000—$125,000 USD. Pay is based on relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Benefits include health, vision, dental, 401(k), Health and Dependent Care FSA, vacation, sick, personal, paid parental and medical leave, and STD/LTD insurance. This is a hybrid role, requiring three days per week in the office with flexibility for remote work on the remaining days.
