Position Summary
The Director of Marketing leads all local marketing, brand strategy, and audience development efforts for City Winery NYC. This highly visible leadership role oversees a team—including a Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Specialist—and drives innovative campaigns that grow revenue, expand audience reach, deepen customer loyalty, and elevate the City Winery brand across the market.
Working cross‑functionally with Programming, Operations, Private Events, Digital, Creative, and PR teams, the Director develops and executes integrated marketing strategies that support ticket sales, dining traffic, memberships, partnerships, and brand awareness. The role serves as a key ambassador, cultivating strategic media, promotional, and community relationships while identifying new opportunities across radio, television, digital, influencer, and experiential platforms.

Overview of Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Revenue Growth
The Director develops and executes integrated marketing strategies that drive ticket sales, dining reservations, private events, memberships, and brand engagement for City Winery’s flagship NYC location. Working closely with the SVP of Marketing, the Director shapes and implements local initiatives supporting both immediate business objectives and long‑term brand growth.
Key responsibilities include overseeing campaign execution across digital, social, email, partnerships, promotions, and in‑venue marketing; identifying opportunities to improve performance for undersold shows; leveraging consumer insights and performance data to optimize marketing effectiveness; and collaborating with Programming, Operations, Digital, and Winery teams to maximize revenue across all business verticals.
Brand Management & Creative Oversight
The Director ensures all customer‑facing messaging and visual presentation reflect the company’s premium positioning. In partnership with the SVP of Marketing, the Director translates broader priorities and brand vision into compelling local campaigns and customer experiences.
This includes collaborating with Creative Services and external vendors to produce impactful print and digital materials, ensuring all in‑venue collateral is current, and supporting storytelling around artist programming, winery experiences, culinary offerings, memberships, and special events.
Digital Marketing, Audience Development & CRM
The Director works closely with Digital to manage local digital marketing and audience development, focusing on acquisition, retention, and engagement. Responsibilities include managing email marketing strategy, audience segmentation, social media oversight, website content updates, and promotional visibility across external platforms and partner channels.
The role drives traffic through artist and partner integrations, ensures timely updates to website and social channels, and collaborates with internal teams to create compelling editorial and promotional content that strengthens customer connection and drives conversion.
Public Relations, Partnerships & Community Engagement
The Director cultivates relationships with media, tastemakers, community organizations, and strategic partners across music, food, wine, hospitality, and lifestyle sectors. Working with an external PR agency, the Director supports press outreach, media opportunities, listings, and event visibility while identifying new promotional partnerships.
The position also oversees philanthropic and donation requests, aligning community engagement efforts with the company’s philanthropic values.
Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
The Director leads, mentors, and develops a local marketing team, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing environment that encourages creativity, accountability, and professional growth. The Director works closely with the SVP of Marketing to hire, train, develop, and manage team members while ensuring projects are prioritized, executed efficiently, and aligned with company objectives.
The Director serves as a key strategic partner to the SVP of Marketing and collaborates closely with cross‑functional leadership teams across Programming, Operations, Digital, Creative, Hospitality, and Private Events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive marketing experience, preferably within hospitality, live entertainment, lifestyle, or food & beverage, with demonstrated success leading integrated marketing initiatives
- Proven success leading and mentoring high‑performing teams in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
- Positive, collaborative, solutions‑oriented leadership style with integrity, professionalism, accountability, and emotional intelligence
- Strategic, metrics‑driven marketer with strong creative instincts who balances brand storytelling with performance‑focused marketing
- Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills, communicating effectively across departments, leadership, partners, and media contacts
- Strong understanding of digital marketing—including email marketing, CRM, social media, audience development, paid media, and content strategy
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset thriving in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
- Deep appreciation for and understanding of live music, hospitality, food & beverage, and experiential customer‑driven businesses
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel as business needs require
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field
- Proficiency with modern marketing platforms, digital tools, and business technologies with strong overall technical fluency
