General Position Description
The Program Director is a 12‑month faculty position that manages the administration and ongoing development of assigned program(s) within select accredited health‑related programs. The scope of responsibilities may vary depending on the specific area, as some essential functions may not apply to all programs. In addition to performing the job duties associated with the faculty positions, the Director ensures alignment with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and workforce needs, while providing both leadership and operational support. The Director collaborates closely with academic and administrative leaders to integrate the program into the broader institutional framework and emphasizes continuous improvement through data‑driven decision‑making, including program reviews and assessment of student learning outcomes. The Director recruits, mentors, and evaluates faculty, fostering instructional excellence, and plays a key role in faculty development. The role works to enhance student progression, retention, and overall experience by connecting students with necessary academic and support resources.
This position has an annual instructional workload of 9 contact hours during the fall and spring terms, and 6 contact hours during the summer term. Additional required contact hours each term are reassigned to fulfill the responsibilities outlined. The Program Director’s role is subject to annual renewal, with specific duties and time commitments varying based on discipline, program size, accreditation needs, and institutional resources.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations, long‑term planning, and continuous improvement of the program, ensuring compliance with policies, accreditation standards, and workforce needs.
- Lead curriculum design and review to stay aligned with industry needs and academic trends.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and/or support staff; oversee or support development, training, and orientation.
- Provide learning leadership and supervision of part‑time faculty and/or instructors, in collaboration with the Dean.
- Offer academic advising and mentorship to support student progression and address challenges; work to improve retention and program completion.
- Collect and analyze program data to inform improvements; lead or contribute to program reviews, Learning Outcomes Assessments (LOA), and accreditation efforts.
- Implement and manage established program budgets.
- Develop and maintain relationships with advisory boards, community partners, and industry professionals; facilitate internships and clinical placements.
- Coordinate with accreditation bodies; support accreditation activities.
- Represent the program within the college and to external stakeholders and prospective students; support recruitment, outreach, and public relations efforts.
- Ensure students meet professional certification or licensure requirements; facilitate necessary documentation.
- Participate in clinical instruction, lab support, or hands‑on learning activities, as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of academic program administration, including operations, planning, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to recruit, mentor, and support faculty and/or staff and provide input on professional development, training, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of student advising and retention strategies.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and report program data to support decision‑making.
- Ability to manage or contribute to the allocation of program resources, including budgets.
- Ability to build and maintain external partnerships, advisory boards, and clinical sites.
- Knowledge of accreditation processes and regulatory requirements.

- Ability to support students in meeting certification or licensure requirements.
- Ability to participate in clinical instruction and facilitate hands‑on learning opportunities.
Educational Requirements
- Faculty positions require a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution, aligned with program focus.
- A doctoral degree may be preferred for certain programs.
Licensure and Certification
Must hold the appropriate license or certification for the field of study (e.g., RRT, ARRT) and maintain any required state or national licensure as specified by accreditation or regulatory bodies.
General Working Conditions
Primarily operates in a professional office environment; routine use of standard office equipment. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends, and must be able to travel locally as needed.
