Who you are
We are seeking a Program Experience Designer, People Operations – a rare blend of learning designer, experience architect, and AI practitioner who sits at the intersection of how people learn and how technology can make that learning exceptional.
You are not a pure instructional designer and you are not a pure technologist. You are the person in between: someone who understands the science of how adults learn, designs experiences that respect the learner’s time and context, and knows how to use AI to build programs that are smarter, faster to scale, and genuinely personalized. You bring a user experience mindset to everything you build – because you know that a learning program is only as good as the experience of going through it.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to one of the most significant transformations underway in Geotab’s People Operations function: reimagining how we onboard talent and develop leaders globally. The future of these programs is AI‑driven, customized to each learner’s role, region, and experience level – and you will help build it. You thrive in ambiguity, prototype quickly, and care deeply about measurable outcomes over aesthetic polish.
What you’ll do
As a Program Experience Designer, People Operations, your key area of responsibility will be shifting HR programs from one‑size‑fits‑all delivery to customized, AI‑enhanced learning journeys. You will design adaptive learning architectures, create modular content structures, and develop continuous learning touchpoints that support new hires and leaders. You will also provide regular status reports to key partners to ensure projects are on time and meeting expectations. You will work closely with People Operations, HR Business Partners, subject matter experts, and cross‑functional stakeholders to translate learning needs into business solutions.
You will be a self‑starter who thrives in ambiguity, prototypes quickly, and brings a user experience mindset to everything you build. In addition, you will have strong analytical and project management skills, be able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage multiple programs simultaneously. You will also manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
How you’ll make an impact
- Play a hands‑on role in reimagining HR programs including global onboarding and leadership experience.
- Shift programs from one‑size‑fits‑all to customized, AI‑enhanced learning journeys tailored to each learner’s role, region, seniority, and prior experience.
- Design adaptive learning architectures that sequence and personalize content dynamically – so a tenured industry professional and a new graduate have meaningfully different experiences within the same program.
- Extend the impact of onboarding beyond the first week, building continuous learning touchpoints that support new hires through their first 90 days and beyond.
- Design leadership development experiences that meet leaders where they are – building programs that adapt to individual growth areas, deliver just‑in‑time coaching resources, and scale across Geotab’s global teams without sacrificing quality or relevance.
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design frameworks to build programs that are engaging, appropriately challenging, and structured for long‑term retention.
- Map learner states, identify friction points, prototype and test experiences before full build, and iterate based on real usage data.
- Develop modular, composable content structures that can be personalized, sequenced adaptively, and updated without requiring a full redesign.
- Use AI tools to design, generate, and enhance learning content – from drafting scenario‑based modules and knowledge checks to building conversational learning experiences and adaptive learning paths.
- Leverage AI to create truly customized learner experiences at scale: personalizing content delivery based on role, region, prior knowledge, and real‑time performance data.
- Evaluate and recommend AI learning tools and platforms, distinguishing genuine capability from vendor hype, and knowing when to build versus buy.
- Stay current on AI developments in the learning and HR tech space and translate emerging capabilities into practical enhancements to Geotab’s programs.
- Partner with People Operations, HR Business Partners, subject matter experts, and cross‑functional stakeholders to identify learning needs and translate them into well‑designed programs and business solutions.
- Build frameworks, templates, and playbooks that help the broader People Ops team adopt new design methods and AI‑enhanced tools independently over time.
- Facilitate working sessions to surface tribal knowledge, align on learning outcomes, and ensure programs reflect Geotab’s culture and values across all regions.
- Ensure programs are globally ready – designed for cultural adaptability and regional compliance from the start.
- Define success metrics that go beyond completion rates – measuring time‑to‑productivity, learner confidence, knowledge retention, manager satisfaction, and behavioral change.
- Instrument programs to capture meaningful data on what is working and where learners are struggling.
- Conduct regular program reviews and share actionable insights with stakeholders and leadership.
What you’ll bring to the role
- 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or program development within a People, HR, or L&D function.
- Strong foundation in adult learning principles, competency‑based development, and experience design – you can articulate why you made every design decision.
- Demonstrated experience applying UX thinking to learning: learner journey mapping, experience prototyping, usability testing, and iteration based on feedback and data.
- Hands‑on experience building with AI tools – you have used AI to design, build, or meaningfully enhance learning programs, not just discuss the possibility.
- Proven ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment, balancing quality with speed to impact.
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills – you can run a needs analysis session, align on outcomes, and navigate competing priorities without losing the thread.
- Experience designing for global, multicultural audiences with an understanding of regional compliance, localization requirements, and cross‑cultural learning nuance.
- Comfort working with learning data – you know what to measure and how to use it to make programs better.
- Experience with AI tools such as Gemini, Codex, Sonnet, and Claude Code.
- Experience with AI learning platforms, adaptive learning systems, conversational learning design, or AI coaching tools.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (Absorb) and how to design within their constraints and capabilities.
- Background in UX design, service design, or human‑centered design – formal or self‑taught.
- Knowledge of learning analytics frameworks and how to connect learning data to business outcomes.
- Post‑secondary Diploma/Degree in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Organizational Development, Human Resources, UX Design, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Even if you don’t meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
