Compensation Overview Annual base salary range: $153,700.00 – $253,700.00. The actual salary will be determined by a number of factors, including scope, complexity, location, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other conditions of employment. Employees are eligible for performance‑based cash incentive awards.
Job Summary This position is posted as an AED (Account Executive Director) for National Accounts, with the potential to be hired as an Account Executive Officer/Senior Underwriter depending on experience. The role partners with agents, brokers, and customers to provide guaranteed cost and loss‑sensitive coverage for new and renewal business, requiring the highest level of production, technical, and sales expertise.
Responsibilities Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business comprised of the highest complexity accounts.
Underwrite and negotiate the most complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
Build and maintain relationships with internal partners across the business unit to create sales plans and identify cross‑selling opportunities.
Develop relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with agents, brokers, and customers to market and sell Travelers products, traveling as required.
Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
Independently develop and execute agency sales plans, frequently partnering with the Managing Director to develop region/group sales plans.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and strategic counsel on underwriting to all levels of underwriters within the region or business unit.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree.
Eight to ten years of underwriting experience, with experience in National Accounts.
Expert level knowledge of National Accounts products, regulatory environment, and local insurance market.
Deep financial acumen and strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate successfully in difficult situations with agents and brokers.
CPCU designation.
Minimum five years of underwriting experience.
