Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Social Media Specialist for the Department of Public Heath/ Human Science Admin at Oregon State University (OSU).
For those interested in:
-Creating short videos for Instagram and TikTok
-Using social media to tell short-stories about your own and other students' experience at OSU (academics, research, student life, and more)
-Learning about social media marketing and connecting to audiences through digital media
-Health and well-being and communicating the message that health is a human right
We are looking for a student who is ready to practice and build their design, storytelling, video and social media skills.
You'll be working up to 20 hours per week developing and creating short videos that will appear on our social media channels. You'll assist with planning other social media content as needed.
There is opportunity to grow in this role into other marketing areas of interest (e.g. graphic design, long-form video, animation, digital signage, print design, writing, etc.). You will be supported and mentored by a marketing team in this role.
In this role, the Social Media Specialist creates engaging social media content that highlights the Oregon State University student experience and supports the College of Health's marketing and communication efforts. The position focuses on producing videos, photos, and short-form stories that showcase student life, academics, research, and community engagement. This position includes some graphic design work.
The student reports to the College of Health, Marketing and Communications Manager and collaborates with the marketing and communications team to plan, film, edit, and publish content across the college's social media channels. This work directly supports marketing campaigns, recruitment initiatives, and storytelling projects that promote the college's programs and impact. The role emphasizes authentic storytelling, creativity, and alignment with the college's brand and voice.
Through this work, the student practices and strengthens skills in video production, photography, editing, and social media strategy while contributing to projects that advance the college's mission to improve human health and well-being.

Position Duties
Work with the Social Media Lead to create, plan, and post content
Follow TikTok and Instagram best practices for style and length of content
Feel comfortable creating videos and being on camera as the subject and/or interviewer
Monitor key metrics using reporting tools and create reports on social media performance
Follow OSU brand guidelines
Assisting with graphic design (social media, digital signage, and flyers)
Assist with other digital media and marketing projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Experience with Adobe Platforms ( Premiere, Express)
Active in clubs and activities
Interest in health and well-being promotion
Student who can work the full 20 hours a week is ideal
