Description

The Intern – Public Relations will gain experience and knowledge in the Resort's communications. Intern will rotate through different areas, including guest services/recovery, where they will learn to respond to guest complaints using our online system, track the resolution process, and understand the importance of maintaining guest relations. They will also be involved in the processing and filing of donations and sponsorships, as well as the creation of Resortwide communications such as emails, letters and press announcements, and assist in special event planning. They will experience the full life cycle Public Relations department from start to finish.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Day-to-Day experience:
Orientation and Training

- Start each day with a training session, familiarizing themselves with the team, their duties and areas of expertise.
Knowledge and Procedures

– Intern will be teamed up with an area expert to experience the job duties in that area; examples may include assisting with the management of guest complaints, processing donations and crafting communication materials.
Rotation Through Department

– Interns will rotate through different areas, learning the specific responsibilities of the areas.
Guest Service

– Intern will learn the importance of guest service in the hospitality industry – with the WIN model.
Learning and Development

– Throughout the experience, the intern will have the opportunities to gain practical experience and insights of Public Relations, Guest Services, Internal Communications and Special Projects.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

AGE and GAMING:
18 years of age or above
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED is required. Must be entering Sophomore, Junior or Senior year in college for current semester or recently graduated from college, documentation must be provided.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Essential responsibilities include physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least forty (40) pounds, and standing/walking 100% of the shift. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, twist, and grip throughout shift. Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, as well as extreme cold and heat.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. When on the casino floor or other designated areas may be subjected to tobacco smoke.
Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Associates must be able to work varying-schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
