Summary
The Pompe / Fabry Sales Director, East will lead a team of Account Managers to achieve corporate sales objectives. The position reports to the US Sales Lead, Enzyme Therapies Business Unit and is responsible for revenue and unit targets, as well as managing operating expenses for the region. The ideal candidate will have significant leadership experience with highly skilled field teams, cross-functional collaboration, and a track record in rare disease or high-value specialties. Strong people leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required, with a sense of urgency and integrity in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, retain and hire top performers.
- Develop regional and territory business plans based on revenue goals, marketing plans, and available resources.
- Spend time in the field interacting with customers, coaching and developing direct reports.
- Attend brand team meetings to provide the voice of the customer and articulate insights gained in the field.
- Influence tactics and strategies by understanding customer needs.
- Monitor and manage cost center budgets and provide spending direction.
- Understand, follow and manage to all company policies, and regulatory compliance guidelines.
- Work may require weekends to attend scientific/conferences and patient educational events.
- Provide reviews, evaluate performance, assign merit increases, and implement development plans as appropriate.
- Assist in the development and implementation of incentive compensation plans for the sales organization.
- Be an expert in clinical data and provide strategic direction for its use with Account Managers.
- Travel up to 60% of the time to work with Account Managers in the field.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive pharmaceutical/biotech experience.
- 6+ years biotech/specialty sales involving high-value products.
- 8+ years field sales management experience in large geographies with focus on specialty sales (infusion and injection) and/or institutional/IDN sales.
- Experience hiring, building, and managing new teams in a key brand for the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strategic thinking and strong communication skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and contingency planning abilities.
- Strong history of exceptional team sales performance and performance management.
- Confident presenter; able to engage senior leadership.
- Willingness to travel extensively (greater than 60%).
- Experience promoting or managing promotion to office-based and institutional KOL centers.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Location: NY, NJ, PA, Ohio, Boston or Charlotte (near a major airport).
