Gather editorial elements needed for stories, including social media newsgathering, research, and securing interviews. Contribute to the day's editorial direction by pitching story ideas, exclusive reports, and interview opportunities. Participate in breaking news coverage and special projects. Demonstrate proficiency in using social media platforms for newsgathering, research, and content creation. Maintain a well-established network of contacts, including community organizations, business leaders, federal and local officials, and other media outlets. Work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including weekends, early mornings, and flexible hours to accommodate last-minute scheduling changes. Operate under the guidance of the VP of News Gathering This position is based on-site in Miami, Florida, and requires regular in-office presence to support newsroom operations. Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable newsroom culture.
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 3 years of on-air news reporting experience in Spanish. Experience producing digital video content in a newsroom environment is a plus. Proficiency in social media platforms and trends. Fluent in Spanish, written and spoken. Fluent in English
Desired Characteristics:
Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization. Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story. Outside of the box thinker Proficient in I-News, helpful
