Account Manager

Company Overview Transco Rail Services is a part of Marmon Holdings, a global industrial organization backed by Berkshire Hathaway.
Candidate Requirements Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship. Houston is the preferred home‑based location for this remote position with travel as outlined.
Position Summary Account Managers will engage with target customers across North America to present Marmon Rail Repair Services, including railcar and tank car maintenance offerings, and deliver solutions that foster long‑term, win‑win relationships. The role involves managing existing customers, retaining current business levels, and growing new opportunities by understanding and addressing customers’ repair needs.
Primary Responsibilities Identify customers’ maintenance needs and develop/communicate solutions that maximize relationship value.
Input timely and accurate updates into CRM and forecasting tools.
Align with the Operations team to deliver optimal customer experience.
Advocate for customer needs internally while managing expectations and balancing company demand and capabilities.
Collaborate with the Customer Support team to monitor performance against expectations.
Represent the company at industry events and customer meetings.
Prepare quotes and review contracts in a manner that protects the company.
Perform administrative tasks related to sales functions for both fixed shops and on‑site locations.
Skills and Specifications Strong sales abilities and excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a busy environment.
Creative business writing and presentation skills.
Analytical skills to assess business opportunities and make strategic recommendations.
Experience in sales and marketing strategy participation.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
5+ years of sales experience with concentrated experience in railcar or tank car industries strongly preferred.
Understanding of railcar and tank car maintenance cycles (e.g., HM 216, lining inspections).
Strong project management and business writing skills.
Other Skills and Abilities Effective liaison between departments, suitable for remote work.
Strong interpersonal skills, including public speaking for presentations and meetings.
Detail‑oriented, able to identify all cost elements in complex proposals.
Responsive to changing business dynamics and energetic and entrepreneurial approach.
Flexibility to work additional hours when required.
Physical Requirements Sitting for extended periods, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, and occasionally lifting up to 5 pounds.
Sustaining mental and visual attention to detail for sustained periods.
Pay & Benefits Pay range: $135,000 to $165,000.
