Digital News Producer
Maine Public is seeking a full-time Digital News Producer to join our newsroom! This role collaborates with our digital team, reporters, and hosts to help deliver high-impact journalism on our digital news platforms. Involving editorial and technical work, this position is responsible for posting news stories, updating online and social media content, creating page layouts, crafting compelling headlines, selecting impactful images, and working with audio, visual, and other interactive content. With NPR, PBS, and other partners we strive to be the standard bearer for high-integrity journalism and programming. Candidates must be comfortable working in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment. The ability to react to, produce and post breaking news across the 24-hour news cycle is a core requirement. The successful candidate must work well both in a team environment and independently, and demonstrate a love of public broadcasting. The work schedule for this position is currently Monday through Friday, 10:30 am - 7:00 pm Hybrid Work Schedule: This position is based in our Portland Maine newsroom, and may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule after a training period. Hybrid work schedules require 3 days per week in the office and attendance at on-site meetings.
Job Requirements: At least 2 years' experience as a multi-media content provider; work experience as a journalist is required. Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Hands on experience creating web content and strategies required along with organization, attention to detail, and accuracy. High proficiency with computers, software, digital systems and audio and video editing platforms required. Familiarity with CSS, HTML, and JavaScript preferred.
