Job Summary First Alert 7/KOSA-TV seeks a high‑energy, self‑motivated Technical Media Producer (TMP) to serve as the technical lead during live or taped studio broadcast productions. The TMP will operate production switchers, execute creative technical “look” elements, and support the News Producer in delivering a polished broadcast.
Live/Taped Productions Set up and operate production switchers and associated technical equipment in production control rooms and live locations.
Orchestrate control‑room set‑up and evaluate, assign, and manage all video inputs with attention to timing and levels.
Collaborate with producers to realize the technical and artistic vision for each broadcast.
Lead the technical portion of the production team during equipment set‑up and coordinate equipment passage through the switcher.
Verify routing of all video and audio signals with traffic and HUB entities.
Recall video sources, transitions, and effects during live or studio broadcasts and route studio monitors per producer instruction.
Continuously monitor all sources to ensure proper video levels and timing, including external feeds.
Operate effectively under the pressures of live programming and tight time constraints.
Collaboration & Communication Work closely with Technical Operations and Production Engineering to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in live locations, PCRs, and studio productions.
Coordinate with Production Engineering, Technical Operations, and Production Management to identify and special‑order equipment as needed.
Qualifications Minimum 2 years of broadcast experience as a TMP in live remote or studio environments, encompassing switching, audio, graphics, character generator, robotics, and automated rundown software.
Knowledge of industry standards, video signal flow, video routers, IP routers, and panel editing software.
Technical proficiency with various video switchers, digital effects devices, and ancillary equipment.
Experience with ENPS or similar news production systems and Ross Overdrive automation.
Knowledge of current broadcast technologies and FCC regulations.
Ability to take ownership and accountability for assigned projects.
Experience preferred with Edius and Adobe Creative Suite editing software.
Computer skills with MS Office.
Work flexible, non‑traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
