Position Overview
Bloomberg Opinion is seeking a Vertical Video Producer and Editor for a 12‑month contract role based in Washington, D.C., to join our global team of columnists and editors.

This hybrid role involves flexibility to regularly conduct video shoots in and around Bloomberg’s DC bureau. You’ll work closely with US columnists in all aspects of the editorial process—from idea generation and script writing to directing video shoots and post‑production. The position requires a social‑mindful video journalist who can bring dazzling ideas for opening hooks, an eye for great visuals, a competitive spirit, strong news judgment, and an irrepressible excitement for social video and audience growth. Live‑stream production skills are needed to curate and coordinate regular live webinars broadcast on Bloomberg Opinion’s social channels from X to TikTok.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience using video editing software such as CapCut, Premiere, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator)

Experience with graphics software including Canva and Figma

Strong news judgment, background in journalism, and ability to work within tight deadlines

Strong knowledge of and active use of social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, and BlueSky

Experience with live‑streaming software like StreamYard, Restream, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube

Portfolio/showreel preferred; an editing task will be required

Responsibilities

Produce short‑form videos daily, combining script‑writing, editing, and directing talent for camera

Work with columnists to showcase their expertise in video form, reaching Bloomberg’s core audience and new audiences on TikTok and Instagram Reels

Produce live‑stream webinars with panel of columnists, broadcasting to social channels

Innovate new ways to turn complex opinion columns into digestible content for social media audiences, experimenting with explainers, voice‑overs, data, and trends

Collaborate with columnists and editors on best practices of social video and content creation

Create other content for social and digital platforms, including video, graphics, and some written content

Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $50–$57 USD hourly.

The referenced salary range is based on the Company’s good‑faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, market conditions, education, and skill level.
