Social Media and Engagement Eco Rep – Office of Sustainability This role involves promoting sustainability initiatives across campus through digital storytelling, strategic content creation, and student engagement.
Key Responsibilities Social Media Management: create and schedule engaging content for the Office of Sustainability’s social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.); develop and implement creative campaigns aligned with sustainability goals (e.g., zero waste events, energy conservation, sustainable transportation); monitor analytics to track growth and engagement, adjusting strategies accordingly; stay up to date with social media trends and platform updates.
Student Engagement & Outreach: promote sustainability events, programs, and opportunities to the campus community; table at events and manage interactive displays; assist with planning and execution of campaigns such as Earth Week, RecycleMania, or Sustainability Month; collaborate with other Eco Reps and student groups to co-host events or initiatives.
Content Creation: design eye‑catching graphics, flyers, and visuals using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite; capture photos and videos at sustainability events or around campus; write short blog posts, newsletters, or student features as needed.
Qualifications Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.
Passionate about sustainability, climate action, and environmental justice.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with or interest in social media platforms and content creation.
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools (preferred but not required).
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Willingness to represent the Office of Sustainability at events and in meetings.
Driver’s license preferred.
Must be able to work with the team at large events such as Move Out, Arboretum After Dark, and other team‑required events.
Learning Outcomes Develop and execute digital marketing campaigns for sustainability initiatives.
Communicate environmental issues in a way that resonates with student audiences.
Collaborate with a diverse team to achieve common goals.
Build a professional portfolio of content and engagement metrics.
Work Hours Various shifts are available, typically between 9:00am and 8:00pm. Individual schedules are developed in tandem with departmental needs and student availability. Attendance at regular staff meetings is expected, including biweekly team meetings, events such as Good Stuff, Graduation ceremonies, Arboretum After Dark, and other programming where the team’s support is needed.
Compensation Hourly pay range: $12.00 – $15.00. The actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and relevant business considerations.
