Coordinator of Liturgy and Music
The Coordinator of Liturgy and Music is responsible for collaborating with the pastor in shaping and forming the worship and liturgical life of the parish. Able to create a dynamic and inspiring worship community, especially through a music ministry program, for the parish community. This role requires the ability to work in a Catholic environment of kindness, compassion, respect, integrity, mutual charity, and dignity.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
Requires a high school diploma, bachelor's degree in music and/or music education is preferred.
Must be a practicing Catholic, a member in good standing of a Catholic parish.
Thorough knowledge of and commitment to the Roman Catholic liturgical norms of the church; familiarity with sacred music and its appropriate use.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Catholic-ecclesial life and structure, along with knowledge of church organization and operational procedures.
Skills:
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Must possess the skills necessary to implement large program wide events.
Proficient in playing piano and/or organ.
Proficient at sight reading.
Experience in training a choir.
Strong singer with solid vocal performance skills.
Abilities:
Organize, motivate, and sustain volunteers in the liturgical ministry.
Lead and form choirs of parishioners that have various degrees of proficiency in music.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the mission of Ss. Edward and Isidore Parish.
Participate as a member of the parish team in planning and decision-making and leadership team meetings.
Assist in development and management of a predefined budget.
Collaborates with parish staff and integrates music into parish ministries as applicable.
Continues spiritual and professional development and renewal.
Perform related work as required.
Liturgy
Write petitions every week and for Holy days.
Order supplies as necessary including books for Mass & Choir.
Lead the worship ministry team including overseeing the scheduling process of all ministries and send requests to liturgical ministers for holy days.
Train and manage liturgical ministers as necessary, as well as overseeing the training program for all ministries.
Supply information to create worship aids as necessary for funerals and Holy Hour.
Other liturgical duties as needed.
Music
Plan and play music for weekend Masses.
Schedule and manage all Musicians.
Coordinate Stations of the Cross, Holy Days, and wedding music, while ensuring the license and recording guidelines are being met.
Upkeep the piano and musical instruments.
Funerals
Meet with the families and help them choose the music and readings that are most appropriate.
Pull together information for worship aids.
Sing and play for funeral or find an alternate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms; and talk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
Typical Working Conditions
Person in this position will work in an inside-office environment; would work alone at times and frequently with a group; normal hours would be 40 hours per week.
Nature of Supervision Received
Receives minimal supervision. Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.
Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made
Considerable judgment and independent decisions making is required regarding compliance to policies. Decisions are moderately complex. Requires ability to thoroughly investigate and analyze problems and recommend the proper course of action. Judgment and tact must be used in communication of policies and procedures. Financial Responsibility: Responsible for effective use of budgeted resources.
