Job Title Director of Arts Marketing and Community Engagement
Responsibilities Market, promote, and manage media relations for The Grand Opera House, The Capitol Theatre, Mercer Music at Capricorn, McEachern Art Center, and McDuffie Center for Strings.
Assist with marketing for ticketed performances at Townsend School of Music.
Collaborate with program directors to achieve marketing and revenue objectives and promote community cultural development in Downtown Macon.
Develop and execute marketing and promotion plans for venues, coordinating with Executive Director, program directors, faculty, and staff.
Direct community cultural development programs encouraging creative arts participation and partnership building with Middle Georgia community organizations, including running the venue tour program.
Advise the Dean of the School of Music on marketing objectives and design monthly e-newsletters and the annual Discover Townsend brochure.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, marketing, performing arts, or related field.
At least three years of experience developing and executing marketing and promotion plans for arts organizations or higher education institutions.
Master’s degree and/or experience developing community‑based engagement programs, particularly cultural development programs, is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent writing skills and working knowledge of AP Style for news releases and stories.
Basic graphic design skills and proficiency with web design and photo editing software for producing ads, brochures, and other materials.
Ability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to develop advertising and marketing plans across all media platforms.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet marketing objectives.
Experience using social media creation tools to achieve marketing objectives.
Background Check Contingencies Criminal history required.
