Job Description

The Sr. Product Manager, Blood Culture is an integral part of the Global Microbiology Segment team within Waters Advanced Diagnostics. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, this role will lead the global blood culture portfolio of products through its entire lifecycle and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to execute product line strategies. The candidate will champion cross‑functional initiatives to drive product segment performance—including revenue growth, margin improvement, quality, and delivery—and ensure the success of assigned products. Responsibilities include driving global product line strategies, product life‑cycle management, VOC activities, market requirements definition, and growth opportunities in new and existing segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a multi‑generation product portfolio strategy through coordination with cross‑functional teams within a matrixed organization.
  • Drive the new product development and introduction process, ensuring successful launch and commercialization.
  • Work cross‑functionally to manage the overall life cycle of assigned product lines, including product changes, inventory needs, production planning, and quality to ensure competitive global positioning.
  • Evaluate and craft financially sound business proposals for new products and partnerships to expand portfolio revenue.
  • Collect and monitor voice of customer, competitive insights, market, and technology trends to shape strategies and roadmaps.
  • Ensure assigned products meet market needs and drive continuous improvements to maintain or improve market penetration and share.
  • Partner with R&D, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to adjust product lines and related features to drive market share and financial results.
  • Conduct business analyses for assigned products to support planning and generate actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with marketing and commercial teams to develop and execute marketing plans and demand generation to achieve product line objectives.
  • Ensure appropriate technical support for sales and field applications teams, including assistance with communicating and positioning products.
  • Effectively communicate product forecasts, working with global regions, planners, and supply chain to ensure accurate demand planning and product build; actively represent in Demand, Supply, and Operational Planning.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent.
  • At least 6 years of product management experience within IVD, medical device, or life sciences, including product planning and life‑cycle management, and experience with stage‑gate processes.
  • Experience in the development and commercialization of life science or diagnostic products.
  • Broad technical expertise in IVD and microbiology.
  • Proven success in leading global new product development projects through stage‑gate processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to conduct financial analysis related to the product portfolio, and translate customer insights into strategies.
  • Track record building alignment in cross‑functional teams within a matrix organization to achieve goals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills; comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Results‑oriented, proactive problem‑solving, and able to overcome business hurdles.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% internally and domestically.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and/or MBA.

Salary Range: $134,100.00 - $214,500.00 USD Annual
