The Sound Technician supports the worship experience by ensuring clear, balanced, and reliable audio during worship services and church events. This role serves the congregation by helping eliminate distractions and creating an atmosphere where the message and music can be received with clarity and excellence, all for the glory of God.
Primary Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and shut down sound equipment for worship services, rehearsals, and special events
Assist with livestream and recording audio for online services
Mix live audio for worship music, preaching, and spoken elements
Monitor sound levels to ensure clarity and consistency throughout the service
Operate microphones, soundboard, and related audio equipment
Troubleshoot basic audio issues during services
Maintain a clean and organized sound and equipment area
Help identify equipment maintenance or upgrade needs
Qualifications & Skills
Basic understanding of sound systems and audio equipment
Ability to learn and follow sound procedures and cues
Good hearing and attention to detail
Calm under pressure and able to problem-solve quickly
Reliable, punctual, and committed to scheduled service times
Able to work collaboratively with a team of worship leaders, musicians, and media team members
Time Commitment
Sunday worship services (arrival typically 45–60 minutes early)
Rehearsals when scheduled
Occasional special events
