The Associate Director of Sales is an experienced senior level hotel sales role that reports directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing. The ideal candidate is an experienced sales leader with a commitment to excellence, a passion for hospitality and a clear ambition to advance into a Director of Sales role within Hyatt. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing and leading the sales team as well as overseeing key accounts and market segments.
Mentoring and Sales Team Management
Mentor, train and develop the sales team
Bi-Weekly/Monthly tentative funnel reviews
Lead and facilitate sales meetings
Conduct property tours and/or facilitate client FAM responsibilities
Revenue & Business Strategy
Develop strategy and tactics for need periods
Collaborate with catering and convention services teams
Participate in annual business planning and forecasting
Attend owner or Hyatt meetings and analyze reports as requested
Manage Sales & Marketing P&L and financial performance reports
Client Relations & Business Development
Handle key accounts and market segments
Represent the hotel at trade shows
Engage in customer entertainment and relationship-building
Community & Internal Collaboration
Network within the community to drive business opportunities
Partner with Rooms, Events, and Food & Beverage departments to optimize revenue
Serve as acting Director of Sales & Marketing in their absence
Qualifications
A minimum of 3‑5 years previous sales experience, proficiency in general computer knowledge, supervisory experience, and ability to train and monitor the process of sending referrals, setting tracers and profiling accounts. Excellent customer relations, communication, presentation and organization skills of utmost importance.
Sales & Business Development – Ability to drive revenue growth, manage key accounts, and identify new market opportunities.
Leadership & Mentorship – Strong experience in leading and training a sales team, fostering professional development.
Strategic Thinking & Problem‑Solving – Ability to develop effective sales strategies, analyze business forecasts, and make data‑driven decisions.
Relationship Building & Negotiation – Skilled in engaging clients, managing partnerships and closing deals with confidence.
Financial Acumen – Understanding of P&L management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Event & Trade Show Management – Experience representing the company at business travel events, networking and lead generation.
Collaboration & Cross‑Department Coordination – Ability to work closely with Rooms, Events and Food & Beverage to optimize revenue.
Communication Excellence – Strong verbal and written skills for client interactions and team leadership.
Adaptability & Resilience – Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities.
Customer‑Centric Mindset – Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional client experiences.
Time Management & Organization – Skilled in balancing responsibilities, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
