Niles Community Schools is looking for a dynamic Middle/High School Choir Director. Highly-effective communication skills and professionalism required for daily interaction with a diverse workforce, student population, building administration and community.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the area of music education.
Must hold a valid/current Michigan Teacher Certification or be eligible for one in the area of Music Education (JX or JQ). Must have a valid driver's license.
Three years teaching and choir directing experience.
Essential Duties (non-prioritized):

Direct high school choral performers, such as concert choir and Counterpoints, soloists, and ensembles.
Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in off campus events.
Provide for choir participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, pep rallies, and community activities.
Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and Niles Community Schools policies and rules.
Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
Coordinate fundraising activities and manage funds.
Plan and coordinate off-season activities (e.g., training clinics, etc.).
Assist with participant concert attire (e.g. ordering, distribution, collection, refurbishing, etc.).
Supervise all performances.
Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Organize auditions. Maintain the integrity of the selection process. Help parents/students understand program objectives and performance standards.
Travel to three buildings daily for class (Niles High School, Ring Lardner & Eastside).
Other duties as assigned.
