Associate Digital Sports Editor/Producer
Join our team. This role is part of the New York Post Digital Production team, responsible for optimizing every story that goes live on the website. The team has a hand in headlines, visuals, videos, and story builds to ensure that it meets the Post’s high standards.

Responsibilities

Edit and produce stories from the Post’s award‑winning staff of writers and columnists.

Handle breaking news and write or produce stories quickly for timely publication.

Pitch and write stories by tracking social media sites and other news organizations closely.

Send multi‑platform alerts to amplify coverage.

Live‑blog coverage of major sports events.

Find ways to promote staff’s in‑depth reporting and strong takes.

Program the sports homepage, balancing the most important, engaging, and attention‑grabbing stories.

Work independently to produce vibrant stories quickly and accurately.

Use analytics to guide decisions while keeping the core audience’s needs front and center.

Requirements

1–2 years of experience as a sports website producer or editor in a fast‑paced online newsroom.

Strong editorial judgment and communication skills, with a proven ability to prioritize and package stories that drive digital engagement.

Hands‑on experience with WordPress or a similar CMS.

Knowledge of all sports, especially New York teams, and a strong interest in the city’s sports culture.

Ability to write sharp, web‑friendly headlines that are optimized for both readers and search engines.

Demonstrated familiarity with SEO best practices.

Experience using analytics tools to monitor performance in real time and adjust story framing, placement, and packaging.

Familiarity with the Post’s writing style and willingness to adapt to a fast‑paced newsroom.

Ability to leverage visuals, multimedia, and social media to enhance stories and maximize reach.

Comfort working in a highly collaborative environment with editors, reporters, and digital producers, and flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Work Schedule
The New York Post adheres to an on‑site work model. This role will be expected to report into the office five days per week. Shift schedule: Thursday–Monday, 5 p.m.–1 a.m. EST.

Compensation
Base Pay Range: $65,000–$75,000. The pay range reflects our good faith estimate, may vary based on experience, skills, location, and other factors. For bonus‑eligible roles, targets are set based on market benchmarks and contributions. For benefits‑eligible roles, the Post offers a comprehensive and competitive package covering health, retirement, wellbeing, and more, along with optional benefits.
