Apparel Designer/Fashion Designer

Job Title: Associate Designer – Sweaters (Intermediate)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Duration: 3 Months Contract (30 hrs/week)

Overview
We are seeking an Associate Designer to support the development of knitwear/sweater collections from concept to production. This role works closely with Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production teams to deliver trend‑right, commercially viable products.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in designing sweaters including yarns, stitches, patterns, and silhouettes

Create sketches and technical flats using Adobe Illustrator

Develop stripes, jacquards, textures, and stitch details

Support tech pack creation (yarn, gauge, construction, measurements)

Review samples, knit-downs, and ensure design accuracy

Participate in fit sessions and track updates

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and vendors

Conduct trend and market research (knitwear focus)

Maintain PLM data, design files, and development timelines

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred

1–3 years of apparel design experience (knitwear/sweaters)

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop

Knowledge of knitwear construction, yarns, gauges, and stitches

Experience with tech packs and sample development

Strong organizational and communication skills

Portfolio required (knitwear work preferred)

Nice to Have

Experience with PLM, Miro

Exposure to AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Vizcom)

Interest in menswear trends

Additional

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment

Support sample handling and attend fit/market sessions
