Provisional to Permanent - 8204 - INSTITUTIONAL POLICE OFFICER at CCD
Job Code and Title: 8204–Institutional Police Officer. Full‑time, 40 hours per week, 260 days per year. Appointment Type: Permanent Civil Service (PCS). Eligible List Type: Combined Promotive and Entrance. Salary Range: $49.40 – $59.80 hourly ($102,765 – $124,387 annually). Department: Public Safety Department. Location: City College of San Francisco, Ocean Campus and other campuses. Application deadline: 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Essential Functions

Administers first aid to students, staff and/or visitors.

Arrests individuals engaging in illegal activities.

Collaborates with community agencies to address incidents.

Communicates safety and security policies to students, staff and visitors.

Enforces applicable laws and college policies.

Enforces college policies as necessary (e.g., student ticketing).

Escorts students, personnel and visitors.

Implements safety escorts.

Investigates potential campus crimes and student‑related incidents.

Participates in unit meetings and training.

Patrols college facilities.

Prepares documents (police reports, citations, incident reports, etc.).

Presents information in settings such as classrooms and meetings.

Provides traffic and parking control.

Reports safety issues or concerns to maintenance.

Responds to a variety of situations (accidents, vandalism, alarms, etc.).

Responds to calls for services regarding campus security issues.

Testifies in court proceedings.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Current provisional employee in Class 8204 with at least 2,080 hours worked in 8204 and no break in service.

High School diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination).

One year of experience as a police officer, member of a military police unit or other work involving safeguarding life and property.

Valid California Driver License.

Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate issued by the California Department of Justice.

Benefits

Contribute 2% of salary to the San Francisco Retiree Health Care Trust Fund (RHCTF) for new employees hired on or after October 1, 2013.

Eligible for California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). No participation in SFERS.
