Nature of Work
The Director of Title I and Family Engagement provides leadership and support to students, families, and school‑based staff at Title I schools and throughout the district, fostering a whole‑child approach to improving student success. The Director ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for Title I, the Judy Center, and early childhood programming. Responsibilities include supervision and evaluation of federal, state, and local Title I and early childhood programs, strategic planning, program improvement, staff evaluation, and budget oversight.

Knowledge of applicable Maryland laws, State Board rules, and other contractual obligations.
Familiarity with St. Mary’s County Public School programs and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support evaluation of Title I personnel and programs; promote whole‑child improvements.
Oversee all components of Title I, including schoolwide programs, family engagement, equitable services, comparability, participation reporting, and consolidated applications.
Maintain knowledge of Title I fiscal practices, budgets, and record‑keeping.
Submit required reports accurately and timely.
Oversee application, enrollment, and registration of full‑day Pre‑K using the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Pillar I.
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data for program improvement.
Plan student transitions to middle school as per Title I regulations and early childhood progression.
Facilitate transitions for children and families in early childhood programs with the Judy Center and other staff.
Participate in Division of Instruction meetings.
Recruit, enroll, and support a full‑day Pre‑K program.
Support elementary, middle, and high school programs.
Expand early‑childhood and Title I opportunities, foster partnerships, and facilitate CTE experiences.
Ensure compliance with Title I and Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, including pre‑K and the Judy Center.
Report adjustments to Title I plans directly to the Chief Academic Officer.
Prepare Title I applications and required reservations.
Prepare special grant reports and coordinate larger grant efforts.
Deliver workshops to strengthen family and community engagement.
Assist in preparing the operating budget for federal, state, and local programs.
Oversee the Judy Center Early Learning Hubs and staff.
Monitor evolving Title I and early childhood regulations.
Serve as the district’s educational equity point of contact.
Report legislative, policy, and procedural changes.
Suggest program modifications to improve Title I and related programs.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Administrator I or II endorsement.
Minimum of three (3) years as a principal.
Preferred:
Successful administrative experience in a Title I school.
District‑level administrative experience.
Elementary and secondary school‑based experience.
Employment Status
Full‑time, twelve‑month position.
