POSITION
RES Production Musical Director 2026 - 2027 (oversee all aspects of a student play & musical production)
QUALIFICATIONS
CT Certified Teacher
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre with an emphasis in Education, or equivalent professional experience
An interview may be necessary
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Selection of the play with permission from administration.
- Present a clear and detailed vision/concept for the play and its design.
- Create audition material and hold auditions.
- Work with the production team/audition panel to make callback and casting decisions.
- Develop a rehearsal calendar
- Direct students in a safe and encouraging environment.
- Prepare and cover topics including, but not limited to, proper vocal technique, expression, dynamics, and character portrayal.
- Develop and work within a budget.
- Oversee the technical designs of the show in conjunction with the vision of the play. This includes set, lighting, sound, costumes, and props.
- Communicate efficiently with the production team and school personnel in a professional and efficient manner.
TIME REQUIREMENTS
Auditions (2-4 days = 2 or 3 days for auditions and 1 day for callbacks).
Rehearsals each week (Monday-Thursday).
Subject to change for needs of practice, lost days of school, etc.
Rehearsal times after school until 4:30pm.
Extended rehearsal times (Monday-Thursday) the two weeks leading up to the performances.
Preparing, performing and accompanying alternate performances. ie; road-show, various advertising opportunities, award shows, etc. TBD.
Additional time outside of rehearsals required to design the show and prepare blocking and staging needs.
Meetings with parents/volunteers in regards to technical design: set, costumes, props, lighting, sound will be required on an as needed basis.
STIPEND
$4,204.00
½ to be paid in December and the balance in June
