Position Description/ Mission
The Vice President of Loan Production ("Producer") role exists to provide capital markets knowledge and capital solutions to commercial real estate owners, investors and developers. The producer is accountable for new sales, building and maintaining borrower and lender relationships, and delivering an exceptional experience for clients.
Key Accountabilities
Fee Origination
The fundamental role and responsibility of a Producer is to generate loan fees by advising on debt and equity solutions to commercial real estate owners.
Client Development
Develop new business through a comprehensive sales plan that includes research, cold and warm calls, referrals, community involvement, content marketing, thought leadership, and a market segmentation plan. The Producer is tasked with building a list of prospective customers that are actively engaged in commercial real estate and developing relationships with this customer base by educating them on debt and equity options for their respective commercial real estate portfolios.
CRE Transaction Execution
Aside from relationships and access to capital, Essex’s biggest value proposition is its ability to execute. The Producer must possess the experience, ability, knowledge, and critical thinking skills to manage a complex commercial real estate transaction from start to finish. This specifically includes:
- Financial Valuation & Risk Analysis – The Producer must have the ability to properly underwrite and evaluate commercial real estate, while adequately identifying the risks and mitigants associated with it.
- Team Coordination – The job entails working with the analysts and operations team to coordinate the underwriting, marketing materials, and closing execution.
- Structuring & Negotiation – The Producer must be a bridge between the client and the capital source and must be able to effectively communicate between both parties on structuring of deals and negotiating terms.
Capital Source Knowledge
The Producer must be able to build critical relationships with capital partners – including Life Insurance Companies, Banks, CMBS conduits, mezzanine lenders, and preferred and common equity sources – and develop a strong working knowledge of debt and equity programs.
PERSONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Tenure & Experience
- Core Industry Experience – 3 to 5 years (minimum) of professional experience within the commercial real estate or adjacent sector(s). Candidate demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of property valuation, market cycles, and asset classes.
- Proven Sales Track Record – Demonstrated success in a revenue‑generating capacity. Proficient in managing the complete sales lifecycle, from lead identification through to transaction closure.
- Proficient in Analytical Review & Cash Flows – Capable of reviewing financial models and property cash flows to identify errors, validate assumptions, and verify the accuracy of data. Complex financial model creation skills are not required, but high proficiency in auditing the logic and integrity of existing models is essential.
