What You'll Be Doing
The CIBC US Asset-Based Lending is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to identify, develop, and assist in closing high-quality asset-based lending transactions. The BDM will further develop CIBC’s presence by working in tandem with commercial banking, capital markets, wealth management, and commercial real estate product offerings.
- Business Development – Prospecting new ABL clients.
- Identify and acquire new strategic relationships to generate new business.
- Drive new business through quality leads from referral sources and prospect visits.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities with new clients.
- Market understanding of bank and non-bank competitors.
- Serve as point person in assessing prospective relationships and understanding clients’ needs.
- Maintain CRM pipeline forecasting.
- Promote CIBC and cultivate prospects through community and industry associations.
- Participate in initial fit assessment discussions.
- Assist in structuring deals to bridge client expectations and bank requirements.
- Act as strategic advisor to clients as needed.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers to deliver ABL solutions.
- Maintain communication with clients as deals progress.
- Provide guidance during credit events and assist in deal negotiation.
How You'll Succeed
- Showcase 10+ years of ABL experience.
- Demonstrate 5+ years of successful business development in a commercial/ABL lending environment.
- Deep understanding of asset-based lending industry, market structures, and competition.
- Maintain an extensive referral source network with consistent calling.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills and knowledge of online prospecting tools.
- Self-starter ability to work out of home.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Travel extensively as per marketing plan.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Minimum 10 years of ABL experience.
- Minimum 5 years of successful business development in a commercial or ABL lender.
- In-depth understanding of the asset-based lending industry and competition.
- Deep referral source network with a track record of consistent calling.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills with additional knowledge of online prospecting tools such as RelPro, Salesforce, Pitchbook, Loan Connector, etc.
- Self-starter ability to work from home.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Effective territory coverage with extensive travel based on marketing plan.
- Legal eligibility to work in the specified location.
