Operations Technician Level 1
The Operations Technician Level 1 supports all aspects of the optical manufacturing process, including but not limited to coating, metrology, fabrication, parts cleaning and assembly, incoming and final inspection, data interpretation, and data entry. Every duty requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and excellence in execution, driven by continuous improvement, performance, integrity, and respect for individuals and the Company's mission. Works as a team player supporting all shift work activities.
Works within and across all operation/manufacturing departments as assigned, including but not limited to: Assembly, Cleaning, Coating, Fabrication, Final Quality Inspection, Marking, Metrology
Follow instructions and procedures precisely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement.
Handle fragile product & parts ranging in size from 1/4 inch to 24 inches and weight from less than 1 gram to over 50 pounds.
Maintains housekeeping, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements
Perform product and machine inspection (chamber maintenance and wafer IQA).
Analyzes data, reports abnormalities to appropriate person/department
Assemble fixtures, parts, tooling, calibrate tools/machines.
Clean product, parts, tooling, machines, work area.
Adhere to Company quality policy, environmental policy, sustainability policy, and safety programs.
Use Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, e-mail, O365, etc.,) and other manufacturing programs.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.
Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
High School diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills; comfortable with machinery
Basic math skills, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, including percentages and decimals; can understand basic geometric concepts e.g., angles and shapes
Team oriented and driven to meet goals and improve processes
Can multitask and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
U.S. Person per EAR Part 772 AND ITAR 120.15
Experience in thin film manufacturing and/or any manufacturing environment; experience in optical coating, metrology, disposition, cleaning, parts assembly, and fabrication a plus
Mechanical/scientific aptitude or interests
Skilled in the use of material management systems, databases, Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook, SharePoint, and file directory architecture
Some college, an Associate Degree in any of the STEM disciplines; mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering, or physics preferred
Self-starter/works well alone and with limited supervision
Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting, and executing detailed instructions, and short correspondence
Skilled in writing simple, informational, and technical correspondence
Familiar with quality, environmental, and safety programs/standards/regulations such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, CAL OSHA, and clean room requirements
Familiar with lean manufacturing methods/tools (5-s, root cause analysis, continuous improvement cycle)
Experienced and certified forklift driver
Work within a manufacturing environment; moderate temperature and noise level, occasionally elevated
Ability to remain in a seated or standing position for the duration of the scheduled shift, as required by job duties
Ability to handle delicate optical components and precision tools with fine manual control while adhering to contamination control and handling protocols
Ability to perform overhead and elevated tasks, including ladder work, requiring physical capability to maintain stability, reach, and control while adhering to safety standards
Be able to work in various positions, including but not limited to, reaching, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods; be able to perform highly repetitive tasks with hands while standing or sitting for up to 10 hours
Comfortable working with solvents, cleaning agents, lasers, sharp instruments, and high-temperature equipment, following all safety and part handling protocols
Visual acuity for close and mid-range tasks, including viewing small components and using a microscope
Required to wear a respirator, hairnet, face mask, gloves, and clean room suit when necessary
Be able to work extended hours (overtime) when required
Be able to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
Must be able to lift and/or move 35 pounds of weight on occasion

These considerations can cause offered compensation to vary. The hiring range for this position is typically $19.00-$28.00/hourly. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. Bonus and/or incentives may be eligible for this position.
