Compensation and Employment Conditions
120,000 annual salary paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one.
Full‑time on‑site position at one Alpha campus location: Beverly Hills, La Jolla, Lake Forest, Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, South Bay, Greenwich, Boca Raton, Miami Beach, Chicago, Boston, Charlotte, or New York City (relocation assistance available).
40 hours per week; 100% classroom‑based work with K‑2 students.
Role Overview
You have a structured‑literacy credential, such as Orton‑Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master’s in reading instruction. At Alpha, that credential is the entry point to a role that develops real‑time, data‑driven workshops, delivers targeted instruction, and supports student accountability through AI‑adaptive apps and motivational strategies.
What You Will Be Doing
Creating 20‑minute small‑group K‑2 reading workshops driven by live adaptive‑app data, rooted in structured‑literacy approaches.
Leading daily motivation sessions to drive 100% of your students toward their weekly app targets using Alpha’s motivational framework.
Analyzing AI‑generated performance data (fluency trajectories, decoding precision, comprehension indicators) to modify instruction during the day.
Conducting running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments to generate gains documented in weekly campus data reviews.
Serving as the engaging, high‑energy adult your K‑2 students are excited to see each day.
What You Won’t Be Doing
Implementing a published reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district pacing calendar.
Delivering whole‑class lectures; instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete academic subjects through adaptive apps.
Serving as a reading consultant, teacher coach, or district‑level specialist.
Managing a conventional classroom schedule such as subject‑by‑subject lectures, homework correction, or test preparation.
Preparing IEPs, 504 plans, or formal diagnostic reports; student progress is captured in app data and running records.
Basic Requirements
Structured‑literacy certification (Orton‑Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master’s degree in reading instruction.
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full‑time K‑2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment within the past 5 years, using systematic phonics or structured literacy.
Proven capacity to create your own reading lessons and clearly explain what you teach and how, without depending on a published program.
Willingness to work on‑site full‑time at one Alpha campus (list of locations).
Willingness to work with all K‑2 students and incorporate AI and adaptive‑learning tools into daily instruction.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice‑to‑have Requirements
Direct experience with AI‑powered or adaptive reading platforms such as Amira, Lexia, i‑Ready, or Reading Plus for instructional planning or student data interpretation.
Documented history of measurable reading outcomes (fluency gains, accuracy improvement, decoding level progression) with specific numbers.
Familiarity with diagnostic reading assessments such as DRA, DIBELS, or AIMSweb for forming differentiated instructional groups.
Experience in high‑accountability educational settings, e.g., independent schools, elite charter networks, or premium tutoring.
Background in performance, youth sports coaching, or other roles engaging a K‑2 audience beyond the reading classroom.
Employment Type and Process
This is a full‑time (40 hours per week) contractor position. It requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. Compensation is $60 USD per hour, equating to $120,000 USD per year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year; payment is made weekly.
Application Process
Before an offer is extended, candidates will submit a short video telling an engaging story for young children and complete a full‑day on‑campus trial working directly with K‑2 students.
