Job Description
IDS is seeking a skilled Cellular / Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer II to support advanced telecommunications and spectrum operations in a DoD environment. This role focuses on cellular system operations, RF engineering, and spectrum coordination to support cyber training and test range activities.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with modern cellular technologies, frequency management, and regulatory coordination to ensure effective and compliant communications environments.

Key Responsibilities

Support operations and maintenance of cellular and RF systems across training environments

Configure and manage 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G cellular technologies

Perform frequency management and spectrum coordination to support mission requirements

Coordinate with license owners and stakeholders for spectrum usage

Develop and submit FCC licensing applications, including Experimental Special Temporary Authority (STA) requests

Coordinate and deconflict spectrum usage to enable training objectives and operational readiness

Analyze performance of telecommunication systems and transmission media

Support integration of cellular infrastructure within cyber range environments

Requirements
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Spectrum Management, or related discipline or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in:

Cellular system operations

Radio Frequency (RF) engineering

Spectrum management

Hands‑on experience with:

2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies

Cellular frequency coordination and management

Experience with:

FCC licensing processes, including Experimental STA applications or similar

Coordinating and deconflicting spectrum with stakeholders

Strong understanding of:

Telecommunication equipment and transmission media

System components and communication architectures

Practical knowledge of:

Telecommunications methods, techniques, and operational best practices

Desired Skills

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Experience in DoD or training range environments

Knowledge of emerging wireless and RF technologies

Ability to coordinate across technical teams and external stakeholders

Strong documentation and communication skills

Security Clearance

Active Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) required
