St. Andrew’s School develops the independence, character, mind, and spirit of its students to prepare them for lives of citizenship, service, and purpose. Be at the center of this mission by joining the school as our
digital communications manager , a key member of the Communications department.
All students live, learn, and play in the natural beauty of our 2,200-acre campus. At the center of our community are curious, motivated, and diverse students who are accepted without regard to their families’ means. Each young person is challenged and valued, and students are truly known by the life‑long mentors who teach, coach, and advise them. Human connection, face‑to‑face, is the foundation of our program. Friendship and joy define our spirit; “faith and learning” is our motto.
Position Summary:
St. Andrew’s School seeks a
digital communications manager
to own the school’s digital ecosystem: the website, email, analytics, accessibility, and the standards that hold it all together.
This is the operational backbone of a small, strategic communications office. The person we hire will partner directly with the chief communications officer (CCO) and across departments to bring structure, consistency, and measurable performance to the school's digital presence.
This is not a content creator role. The school employs separate staff for print storytelling, photography, and video. Social media will remain under the CCO during the first year, with potential for shared strategy ownership over time.
What you’ll own
Website governance and operations. Day‑to‑day management of the school site: homepage publishing, page audits, navigation, calendar accuracy, Content Management System (CMS) administration, and the standards that keep content current. You'll partner with departments to maintain authoritative pages and retire what's no longer serving us.
Email communications. Build, schedule, and send institutional email across audience segments. Lead routine communications independently. Partner with Admissions, Advancement, and academic leadership on workflow design, segmentation, and performance reporting.
Search and discoverability. Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and metadata practices that improve how families, prospective students, and the broader public find St. Andrew's across traditional and AI‑driven search.
Accessibility and compliance. Americans Disability Act (ADA) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) remediation across web content, documents, navigation, and email. You'll identify gaps, prioritize fixes, and bring departments along on standards rather than policing them.
What you’ll partner on
CMS training and consultation. Help colleagues across campus produce stronger, more accessible, more discoverable digital content. You're a thought partner with other departments—offering support and showing them how to do it better.
Lead generation email strategy. Workflows, sequencing, and performance, in close collaboration with Admissions and the CCO.
Operational continuity. During urgent or time‑sensitive communications, you'll serve as trusted operational support—deploying homepage updates, sending emails, and ensuring the school's digital response infrastructure holds. Crisis leadership remains with the CCO.
Digital asset stewardship. Work alongside the school's photo and video staff to ensure visual content is organized, accessible, and well‑used.
Job Requirements
Four to seven years in digital communications, content strategy, or digital operations.
Strong writer and editor across audiences and registers.
CMS fluency and comfort under the hood (not just front‑end editing).
Working knowledge of email marketing platforms, segmentation, and engagement analytics.
Demonstrated understanding of SEO, AEO, and accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG).
GA4 literacy and the ability to interpret data into recommendations.
Curiosity about how AI is reshaping search behavior, content discovery, and digital workflows.
Independent operator. You spot the problem, propose the fix, and move it forward without waiting for permission.
Comfortable with ambiguity. You can build structure where none yet exists.
Diplomatic. You hold standards without being precious about them.
Genuine investment in schools and education as mission‑driven environments.
Preferred Experience
Independent school, higher education, nonprofit, healthcare, or museum digital communications.
Accessibility auditing and remediation.
What Success Looks Like in Year One:
Measurable progress on accessibility compliance across the website.
Documented governance: page ownership, review cycles, publishing workflows.
Stronger, more consistent email performance across primary audiences.
Improved organic and AI search visibility on high‑intent queries.
A functioning analytics rhythm that informs office decisions.
Conditions of Hire
A thorough background check—including fingerprinting, a Child Protection Registry Check, a motor vehicle record check, and other relevant screenings—is required as a condition of employment. Applicants must complete satisfactory reference checks, confirmation of compliance with federal and state employment laws, and any other required condition of employment.
Benefits of Employment at St. Andrew’s School:
Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and plan guidelines; additional details can be found in our employee handbook, which is furnished upon request.
Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Two health plan options to ensure you and your family have access to quality care.
Paid Time Off: Generous paid time off and holidays to help you maintain a healthy work‑life balance.
Retirement Plan: Secure your financial future with our 403(b) and Roth retirement plans. The school provides a matching contribution: for every dollar contributed, the school contributes two dollars, up to 10% of salary, with immediate vesting. Rollovers are permitted from other 403(b) plans.
Employee Assistance Program: Access to resources and programs promoting physical and mental well‑being.
Health Savings Account, which includes a St. Andrew's School match.
Life and AD&D Insurance at no cost to you.
St. Andrew’s School is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome diverse candidates of all backgrounds, faith, and persuasions, and seek to foster an inclusive, welcoming community environment.
