Colorado Ballet Company is a Denver-based nonprofit organization celebrating over 65 years of excellence. Colorado Ballet's mission is to present exceptional classical ballet and contemporary dance through performances, training, education and community engagement while inspiring and growing an increasingly diverse audience base. Under the direction of the Artistic Director, Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet presents more than 50 performances annually to sold-out audiences in the 2,080-seat Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
The Raydean Acevedo Colorado Ballet Academy serves over 1,200 students each year, from toddlers to seniors. Colorado Ballet's Education and Community Engagement programming engages with students, teachers, families, people with disabilities, and lifelong learners, making more than 35,000 contacts in 300 schools and organizations annually.
Position Overview
The Graphic Design Associate supports the Marketing and Communications team by producing and maintaining visual assets across print, digital, and web platforms. The Associate works closely with the Associate Director of Brand & Graphic Design and cross-functional partners to ensure brand consistency and timely delivery of creative projects. This role offers the opportunity to build a diverse portfolio across digital, print, and performance-related projects while receiving mentorship from senior creative staff.
Key Duties and Functions
Graphic Design
· Assemble visual content for website, email, social media, print, and digital marketing materials; edit images, perform color corrections, and prepare assets for digital or print use.
· Assist the Associate Director of Brand & Graphic Design in developing layouts, logos, and banners; incorporate feedback to improve designs.
· Contribute to brand identity development and ensure designs align with organizational guidelines.
· Collaborate across departments to support marketing campaigns and design projects.
· Using established templates, update the annual Academy production program book with seasonal creative, production information, and programming.
· Design and/or assist with the annual Impact Report for the Advancement team; deliver final approved files for print.
· Produce and update program inserts featuring casting information for all mainstage performances; coordinate delivery to theater.
· Adapt graphic assets to different sizes and formats for use across print and digital communications.
· Complete assigned design tasks independently within established brand standards; escalate creative strategy decisions or major revisions to the Associate Director of Brand & Graphic Design.
Publications Support
· Gather assets, compile stakeholder edits, track deadlines, and support print production logistics under established vendor relationships and pricing guidelines, including obtaining estimates, sending final files, and circulating proofs for final approval.
Website Maintenance
· Monitor website content for accuracy, outdated information, and mobile friendliness.
· Create and maintain a cross-departmental website deadline calendar.
· Implement routine content and image updates within the existing CMS (training provided); escalate structural or design changes to the Associate Director of Brand & Graphic Design.
· Support website analytics tracking and monthly reporting.
Administration & Support
· Provide general administrative support for the Marketing and Communications department.
· Assist with invoice tracking for printed projects and submit check requests to the Finance team.
· Assist with project tracking using departmental tools (e.g., Asana) to help ensure deadlines are met.
· Assist with coordination of photo and video shoots.
Qualifications
Minimum
· 1–2 years of relevant work experience, OR a Bachelor's or Associate degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or comparable design tools.
· Basic understanding of design principles, typography, and layout techniques.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal teams and external stakeholders.
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Adaptability, flexibility, and a proactive, resourceful attitude.
Preferred
· Experience with website content management systems and Google Analytics.
· Basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
· Passion for ballet, performing arts, and arts education.
