Software Dev Engineer II, Amazon Digital Advertising

Amazon Digital Advertising team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to enable data-driven customer and performance insights for our digital advertising programs. Amazon’s Ad Platform supports both Amazon’s own marketing efforts and our third‑party advertising services. It consists of integrated inventory, ad delivery, and analytics services and is one of the largest and most sophisticated ad platforms in the industry. Our program is rapidly growing. With over $20 billion in annual marketing spending, Amazon is among the world’s top advertisers. The team develops capabilities to support Amazon’s unique advertising needs and strategic programs, ingesting a vast array of data signals and enabling attribution against strategic success events. In partnership with analytics and research science teams, we calculate the total value of our advertising, striving to develop the most accurate models to understand how we influence customers and continuously fine‑tune attribution models using machine learning.
We seek a strong engineer who can validate success metrics, shape strategies, and identify untapped opportunities. The role requires innovative thinking, effective cross-team collaboration, experience working with data science teams, and a solid grasp of large-scale data flows. You should be comfortable tackling complex challenges, applying rapid test-and-learn approaches, and leveraging large data sets with statistical, data mining, and scripting technologies.
Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain a state-of-the-art ML Ops system that automatically manages the entire lifecycle of our models.
Collaborate with Applied Scientists and Economists to continuously improve model quality.
Ensure operational excellence of advertising attribution services, which process 200 million conversion events and 40 billion advertising events daily.
Support the causal inference machine learning model that estimates advertisements’ causal impact on customers’ behavior.
Basic Qualifications

3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
1+ year of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, or services in C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
1+ year of Object‑Oriented Design experience.
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $158,100 – $213,800 USD annually. The base salary includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs); final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
