Social Media Coordinator
The Social Media Coordinator develops and manages strategic digital content that supports the college's marketing and communications goals. This position creates engaging, audience-focused content to promote academic programs, research, and the value of an arts and sciences education while strengthening connections with students and alumni. Working collaboratively across the college, the coordinator plans, produces, schedules, and distributes content across social media and digital platforms, ensuring consistent messaging, brand alignment, and effective audience engagement.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience - Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications - A bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism or a related field plus three years of relevant work experience, or a master's degree plus one year of relevant work experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Demonstrated knowledge of major social media platforms and best practices for the strategic dissemination of digital content in a higher education environment. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, digital media editing (photo and video), design software, and web-based tools for managing and scheduling social media content. Strong written communication and editorial skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate content. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting to develop and deliver effective communications. Experience capturing high-quality visual content using cameras or mobile devices to support institutional storytelling and engagement.
Job Duties
Job Duty - Produces and implements social media content in alignment with established communications plans, including short-form video, graphic design, photography, and written materials across platforms. Attends classes, programs, and institutional events to capture timely and relevant content that supports strategic messaging. Conducts interviews with students, faculty, staff to gather information and develop compelling narratives. Coordinates and facilitates video production as needed, including recording content or arranging appropriate production support.
Job Duty - Maintains and manages the college's social media content calendar to ensure timely, coordinated, and strategic communications. Plans and develops social media content that supports institutional marketing and communications objectives. Monitors emerging social media trends, identifying relevant themes, formats, and best practices to inform content strategy. Shares insights and recommendations with the communications team and campus stakeholders to enhance and guide the college's overall communications efforts.
Job Duty - Manages the college's social media platforms, ensuring consistent, strategic, and brand-aligned content delivery across multiple platforms. Schedules and distributes content across platforms to maximize reach and engagement. Monitors and engages with audiences by responding to comments, messages, tags, and collaboration requests, in consultation with communications leadership as appropriate. Analyzes content performance and adjusts strategies based on data-driven insights. Prepares and delivers regular reports on social media metrics and outcomes to inform ongoing communications efforts.
Job Duty - Coordinates social media advertising initiatives in alignment with the college's communications plans, under the direction of the Communications Director and Communications Manager. Develops and implements campaign elements, including audience targeting, creative assets, and budget parameters. Monitors and evaluates advertising performance metrics, providing analysis and recommendations to optimize campaign effectiveness and support institutional marketing objectives.
Job Duty - Performs additional duties as assigned in support of the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences' communications and marketing objectives.
