SITE ENGINEERING & DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL - BMSBATTERY SYSTEMS ENGINEERRESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIESBattery SystemsResponsible for performing battery pack design; emphasis on architectural and electrical aspectsDevelops test procedures and cell cycling equipment for performing electrical product and component evaluations (both internally and in labs)Perform technical risk and performance analysis and simulationMaintain time records and project reports as requiredParticipate in process improvementCollaborates with customer and development team to analyze and document requirementsCollaborate with other engineers on the global team as needed or requiredPerform 5S duties at the end of the day/weekSupportProvide technical guidance to all engineering disciplines through all phases of the APQP development processSupport customer integration and validation of battery pack, onsite when requiredSupport program management in post-sourcing reviews of hardware, software and systemsLegal ComplianceThis role operates under TISAX confidentiality level [Level 2], requiring appropriate handling of sensitive informationEnsure legal compliance with state, federal and OSHA requirementsEnsure ISO procedures are followedMaintain compliance with all company policies, work instructions and proceduresPROFILEPersonal BackgroundBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science or related engineering fieldRequired: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in engineering, ideally in the battery or automotive industry with hybrid and/or electric vehiclesPreferred: 4 years' experience in battery pack developmentJobTechnicalSkillsStrong knowledge of DFMEA processExperience with schematic softwareExperience with design verificationAbility to review customer requirements and develop gap analysis to establish variant listsBackground in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and battery systems is a big plusFamiliarity with automotive quality systems (IATF/ISO standards)Knowledge of quality, safety and manufacturability of battery packsExperience with high voltage and high capacity lithium ion battery systems: LTO and NMC preferredExperience specifying and setting up tests with cyclers and other diagnostic equipmentExperience with BMS software control algorithms and hardware design preferredExperience with power electronics preferredDemonstrable experience with tools and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, meters, diagnostics/analysis software) to perform standardized certification testingJob SoftSkillsIndependent and proactive problem solverComfortable working in a cross-functional, international team environmentStay focused on the quality of every deliverable by ensuring consistency and adherence to high standards, as well as paying close attention to even the minutest details involvedAbility to possess higher-order thinking skills that enable one to see both sides of the coin.
