Technician Position At Toledo Facility

Technicians who are hired at the Toledo facility are expected to gain skills utilizing a pay and progression system that is based on pay-for-skills. Starting pay is $22.40, increasing to $25.22 after one year, $30.27 after three years, and $33.41 after four years. Hiring for second and third shifts.

Summary: Technicians will be expected to operate various production and packaging-related equipment to support plant production. This includes performing the necessary physical activity for purposes of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment on the production lines. Must safely operate essential material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jacks) and possess knowledge of basic hand tools including wrenches, pliers, hammers, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities: Follow all company safety rules and good manufacturing practices (GMP's). Produce high-quality products in a safe manner. Must be available to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as needed. Maintain a good attendance record. Flow to work in all areas of production and packaging. Operate a computer to input and review data for the purpose of maintaining accurate records. Ability to work as part of a team and assist others as needed.

Minimum Requirements: High-school degree or equivalent. Minimum age of 18. Two years of manufacturing experience preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMP's, and general instructions. Good communication skills are required.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out both oral and written instructions.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and duties of this job. Employee is regularly required to stand and lift. Employee is required to stand and walk at a minimum 70% of the time. Employee must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts. Employees must occasionally lift/push/pull or carry up to fifty (50) pounds and should be able to lift 30-35 pounds on a frequent basis. Employee must be able to squat or kneel and to bend on a frequent basis. Employee must be able to tolerate exposure to flour and food allergens. Employee must be able to climb steps and work in confined spaces on a regular basis.

Candidates must be willing to complete each stage of the selection process, including testing, interview process, drug screen, background investigation, and pre-employment physical examination.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Hospital Infrastructure Maintenance

Perform preventive, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance on hospital infrastructure systems, including HVAC and environmental control systems, electrical distribution systems (normal, emergency, and essential), medical gas and vacuum systems, plumbing and water systems, life safety and fire protection systems, and vertical transportation (elevator) coordination support.

Maintain critical systems that support patient care areas such as operating rooms, intensive care units, data centers, and imaging suites.

Reliability & Risk Management

Execute maintenance tasks derived from RCM analysis, FMEA, and risk‑based maintenance strategies.

Identify potential failure modes that could impact patient safety or regulatory compliance.

Perform structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) following system failures.

Recommend reliability improvements to reduce failures, extend asset life, and improve uptime of critical systems.

Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

Perform work in compliance with hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, NFPA codes, and applicable local/state regulations.

Accurately document maintenance activities, inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions in the CMMS.

Support environment of care (EC) and life safety (LS) programs through documentation, testing, and reporting.

Assist with regulatory surveys, audits, and inspections by providing asset history and maintenance records.

Condition Monitoring & Data Collection

Collect and interpret condition data such as temperature trends, vibration data, pressure readings, electrical load measurements, and system alarms.

Identify early warning signs of equipment degradation and communicate risks to facility leadership.

Support development and refinement of preventive maintenance tasks and intervals based on asset performance data.

Safety & Patient‑Centered Operations

Follow strict safety protocols including lockout/tagout, infection control risk assessments, and interim life safety measures.

Collaboration & Communication

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school preferred.

Working knowledge of multiple building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, life safety).

Familiarity with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance concepts.

Experience using a CMMS for work order management and asset history tracking.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings and schematics.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Healthcare facilities experience (hospital, medical center, or ambulatory care).

Certifications or training related to:

CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional)
