Founding Peer Reviewer

Iterra · San Diego, CA, USA ·

Job type:
Full Time

Company Description

Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.

Iterra is compressing the scientific research and review process. We are building the infrastructure layer that should have existed all along: the town square for researchers, where scientific work is reviewed, refined, and discussed as it evolves.

Peer Reviewer Description

This role is for people who already decide what good science looks like. You review papers. You sit on editorial boards. You evaluate grants. You shape what becomes part of the scientific record.

Peer review has always been volunteer work. The difference is that the system gives you no control over what lands on your desk, no recognition for the work, and no voice in how it operates. Here, you choose what you engage with, how deeply you engage, and you are helping build the system itself.

This founding cohort is already in motion. The first review cycle is underway and reviewers are actively shaping how the system works. You are not joining a concept. You are stepping in while the standards are still being written.

Iterra is building infrastructure for scientific reasoning before publication: structured peer review, AI-assisted evaluation, and a persistent scholarly record that captures how research is reviewed, revised, and improved over time. We are forming a founding cohort of peer reviewers to define how that system works.

Not everything needs a full peer review. Some work needs a methods check. Some needs a statistical sanity check or a section audit. Some just needs a smart person in the field to read it and say what makes sense and what doesn’t. Multidisciplinary work often needs targeted feedback from several specialists rather than one comprehensive pass. Iterra is built around that reality.

Every review you contribute becomes part of your permanent scholarly record, attributed to you and portable across your career.

Founding reviewers will shape review standards, reputation systems, attribution models, and evaluation workflows before broader institutional rollout begins.

Members of this founding cohort will be permanently recognized as early contributors to the system’s development as it evolves.

If you have spent years publishing, reviewing, and evaluating research and believe the infrastructure should work differently, we want to hear from you.
