Your Tasks

At HELLA, you will support us in the Research Institute for Lighting Technology and Mechatronics L-LAB, where basic research and development work for innovative lighting systems are carried out together with universities. As part of your doctorate, you will investigate the light-based communication of vehicles with their environment and develop new concepts for future V2X applications. Concept design of a light communication system: You will design a solution that uses sensor signals to detect the environment and transmit information via light channels. Modeling and analysis: Your tasks include the investigation of influencing factors such as time of day, weather, or ambient light on transmission reliability. Development of data processing: You will structure and process communication data so that they are optimized for transmission via optical systems. Experimental validation: It is your responsibility to develop test setups to evaluate concepts under realistic conditions. Interdisciplinary cooperation: You will work closely with research partners and development areas to combine insights from sensor technology, lighting technology, and communication technologies. Scientific documentation: You will publish results in specialist publications and present them in scientific networks.
Your Qualifications

Field of study: You have a completed master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a comparable field. Programming skills: You have experience in Python or MATLAB. Signal processing: You have knowledge in image or sensor signal processing. Research orientation: You have a passion for analytical, scientific work. Technical understanding: You are interested in vehicle technology, lighting technology, and communication systems. Language skills: You have very good German and English language skills.
