Programs and Operations Intern / Spring 2026

hybrid
and open to applicants in

Burnaway seeks a Program and Operations Intern for hands-on experience and extensive learning related to non-profit arts organization program planning and operations.
Interns will work six hours a week during working hours (10AM-6PM EST Monday-Thursday). Internship duration is January 13 to late May/early June.
Interns will receive
$15 per hour
OR college credit. We accept applications from those interning for college credit if noted in your application, and it is the intern’s responsibility to communicate academic requirements to Burnaway staff.

TASKS AND DUTIES
Programs
Assist in planning and executing programs and fundraisers (2-4 during internship duration)
Assist with executing ongoing artist projects
Operations
Research, compile, and communicate with possible advertisers and stockists*
Aid in designing and drafting weekly newsletters
Schedule and conceptualize social media posts
Pack and ship shop orders and maintain shop inventory
Starred items indicate special projects. Other tasks and duties may arise during internship duration.
QUALIFICATIONS
A successful Program and Operations Intern should possess excellent communication skills, must be able to work simultaneously on short- and long-term projects, should be responsive to feedback, and be very organized with attention to detail. This individual should be a self-starter who isn’t afraid to ask questions to keep projects moving forward.
Qualifications include:
A nuanced understanding (or pursuit of such) of relationships between individuals and institutions related to contemporary art in Atlanta, the South, the Caribbean, nationally, and beyond
Critical but collaborative sensibility; must be able to maintain healthy, sustainable, respectful professional relationships, especially with Burnaway’s staff and community
Having an interest in publishing, art, art criticism, programs and event planning, non-profits, or related topics
