Director of Visuals for New Business – Warner Bros. Discovery (CNN)
Lead the visual expression of our editorial strategy for a portfolio of new digital products across lifestyle categories. Define the creative vision, shape the look and feel, establish a clear, ownable identity for each product, and maintain cohesion across the broader portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the overarching creative vision for New Business editorial experiences, establishing a cohesive yet flexible identity across a portfolio of products.
- Develop a distinct visuals strategy for each product, ensuring differentiation, memorability, and alignment with editorial purpose and audience.
- Work closely with editorial, product, and experience design partners to create the visual expression of our editorial voice and product vision, establishing scalable creative principles across media and formats.
- Lead visual ideation at the earliest stages of editorial and product planning, navigating ambiguity into defined visual guidelines and establishing standards for video, photography, illustration, and mixed‑media.
- Set and uphold a high creative bar; use judgment and taste to shape conceptual work.
- Oversee and collaborate with design, video, photo, and production partners, guiding visual direction and providing constructive feedback.
- Build and maintain a diverse network of photographers, illustrators, and visual artists; manage commissioning and production workflows.
- Oversee contracts, photo fees, usage rights, and track the overall creative budget.
- Ensure clear, proactive communication of visual direction, execution, and delivery; align internal teams with brand partners and vendors.
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in creative direction, brand leadership, or visual storytelling, with a strong foundation in media or culturally relevant consumer products.
- Portfolio that demonstrates a clear, distinctive creative point of view; experience building or evolving brands or creative systems.
- Deep understanding of how creative expression translates across digital platforms (product, video, social).
- Proven ability to operate at a strategic level, shape vision, and guide teams to produce visuals in multi‑media formats, with particular emphasis on video and photo direction.
- Strong creative judgment and the ability to articulate direction clearly and persuasively to cross‑functional partners.

Compensation and Benefits
Pay Range: $140,000.00 - $260,000.00 per year. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards.
