KSNT 27 News in Topeka, Kansas has an immediate opening for a journalist to join our team as a part-time Multimedia Journalist Reporter. The MMJ produces, reports, shoots, writes, voices, edits and feeds news content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.
JOB DUTIES:
Reports news stories for all station platforms, digital and linear, describing the background and details of events
Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories
Reviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
Researches and analyzes background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate information
Pitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local community
Operates newsroom computer systems, editing and camera equipment
Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Promote teamwork and maintain attitude of cooperation with all station personnel
Must be fluent in English
Flexibility to work changing shifts as needed
WORK ENVIRONMENT/MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
High stress environment with deadline pressures
Travel will be required on a regular basis
Position requires the transport of equipment weighing up to 60 lbs
Position often requires work in extreme outdoor temperatures
A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required
