Position Overview
We are a leading, multi-state contract manufacturer seeking a skilled Production Supervisor at our Port Washington facility. The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities to ensure efficient, safe and high-quality manufacturing output. This role coordinates production schedules, leads frontline operators, enforces safety and quality standards, and drives continuous improvement to meet production targets and customer requirements. The Production Supervisor works closely with maintenance, quality, planning and engineering teams to resolve issues and implement process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily production operations to meet output, schedule and quality targets.

Assign tasks, manage shift staffing and monitor team performance; provide coaching, training and development for operators.

Monitor production metrics and KPIs (yield, throughput, downtime, scrap) and prepare regular reports using Excel and other systems.

Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, compliant work environment; conduct safety briefings and ensure PPE usage.

Ensure product quality by following standards and procedures; work with Quality team to investigate and resolve non-conformances.

Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen) to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Coordinate with maintenance and engineering to minimize downtime and support equipment reliability.

Support project activities for line changes, new product introductions and process upgrades; communicate changes to the production team.

Manage material flow and basic inventory control to prevent shortages and excesses on the line.

Provide shift handovers, maintain production documentation and report operational status to Operations/Plant Management.

Qualifications

Required: 2+ years of hands‑on experience in production or manufacturing environments with direct involvement in day‑to‑day operations.

Required: Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning and basic inventory control.

Preferred: 1+ years of direct supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing setting.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or associate degree in manufacturing, industrial technology, engineering or related field preferred.

Skills: Strong communication, problem‑solving and organizational skills; ability to prioritize under pressure and make data‑driven decisions.

Computer skills: Proficient with Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis; comfortable using production/MES systems.

Nice to have: Supervisory experience, advanced Excel skills, project management exposure, continuous improvement training (Lean or Six Sigma), safety certification (OSHA or equivalent) and quality system experience (ISO, GMP).

Physical: Ability to work in a manufacturing environment including standing, walking and occasional lifting as required by the role.
