Position Overview
Vendera is hiring an A&D Engineer to lead the economic evaluation of the oil and gas assets the firm acquires and operates. This is a principal investing role: the A&D Engineer underwrites acquisitions. The position pairs reservoir-engineering analysis (reserves, type curves, decline analysis, lease operating expense, and field-level economics) with the financial modeling required to translate a technical view into a sound investment decision. Responsibilities span the full transaction lifecycle, from screening and diligence through closing and operations, providing exposure to a range of asset types and basins, with direct interaction with the principals responsible for capital allocation.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical and economic evaluation of acquisition opportunities, including PDP and PUD reserve forecasting, single-well and type-curve modeling to establish asset value and recommend appropriate bid levels.
Build full-cycle economic models in engineering software, incorporating price decks, capital expenditures, lease operating expense, and differentials to produce NPV, IRR, and rate-of-return metrics that support the investment case.
Interpret LOE and LOS statements and operating cost structures, distinguishing recurring from non-recurring expense to improve forecast accuracy and to identify field-level value-add opportunities such as recompletions, artificial lift, downtime reduction, and base-decline mitigation.
Review marketing materials, third-party reserve reports and oil and gas sales and marketing contracts, conduct data-room diligence, and lead targeted technical due diligence with sellers, operators, and other counterparties.
Develop the investment case and present well-supported recommendations to the principals and investment decision-makers on whether to pursue, decline, or adjust the bid on an opportunity.
Remain engaged following close by translating the underwriting thesis into well-level operating plans for acquired assets and by tracking actual performance against the model.
Evaluate portfolio divestment candidates to maximize full-cycle returns, and coordinate with investment-banking advisors to prepare, manage, and deliver divestiture data.

Required Qualifications
Two to five years of experience as a reservoir, acquisitions, or evaluations engineer at a direct operator, an oil and gas consultant (investment banking firm) or an oil and gas private equity firm management team (strong references required)
Strong academic record, including high GPA and strong aptitude test performance
Proficiency with industry-standard engineering and economics software, including PHDWin, Aries, ComboCurve, and Enverus, as well as basic coding capability
Experience with financial/data visualization tools such as Spotfire and/or Tableau
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with using AI to help streamline processes and work product
Exceptional organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
